THEME: A SOUND MIND

1 Peter 4:7

“The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.”

INSIGHT

-Peter exhorts us to be alert anticipating the end times, particularly the return of Jesus Christ, which should influence our attitudes, thoughts, actions and relationships with God and man. Sobriety of mind influenced first by wine causes an unawareness of the Holy Spirit who lives within us. Ephesians 5:17-19 tells us that, “therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” Sobriety of mind can be equated to soundness of mind, that results to keeping a check upon all our desires, and creates a conducive environment for prayer. Revelation 3:11 reminds us that Jesus is coming soon and we should hold fast what we have so that no one may take our crowns.

PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven; hallowed be Your name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory; forever and ever. Amen

Blessed Wednesday
