THEME: DIVINITY OF PURPOSE
Proverbs 19:21
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
INSIGHT
-There are many devices in a man’s heart which may seem good in our eyes. Some desires we conceptualize in our hearts over time and they may seem too perfect to miscarry. Sometimes these are our own desires which might not be God’s plan for us. God’s design sometimes contradicts and overrules our own desires and when rushed they might cause us trouble or pain. God reveals that the whole duty of man is to fear Him and keep His commandments, for He will bring everything good and evil unto judgment (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14). The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out (Proverbs 20:5). We find wisdom and insights from God Himself as He speaks to us in diverse ways so that we may accomplish that which He has designed for us.
SUMMARY
Our purpose in life is the very meaning of our existence and without knowing this we often suffer ignorant of our own significance. We fall prey to the illusion that our lives don’t matter and we have no connection or impact on the world around us. The Bible offers many insights into man’s purpose on earth and living within a meaningful mission. God is sovereign and rules the universe, which He created for His own good purposes and His own glory. God makes known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. God’s purpose will always stand and He does all that He pleases. From the east He summon a bird of prey and from a far-off land, a man to fulfil His purpose. What He says He brings it to pass and what He plans He will accomplish (Isaiah 46:10-11). We know that we are God’s handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). He created us in His own image and delegated authority to us to rule the earth and subdue it in His name (Gen 1:26-28). He made us priests and kings to Him and gave us power to rule the earth. King David for instance served God’s purpose as a king in His own generation (Acts 13:36). He ate consecrated bread which was meant for the priests and did not die (1 Samuel 21:6). He later fell asleep and was buried with his ancestors, and his body decayed. God has a purpose for each one of us and we should focus on what God desires us to accomplish for the glory of His name. He has a purpose to the mighty and those that seems least among us, and each one should be treated equally without favouritism. Jesus delivered the demon possessed man who lived in the region of Gerasenes and set him free. Out of His merciful love He considered the man as valuable, to make a difference in his area of domain. In the same way God uses us in this present age for the advancement of His kingdom. Our God of peace made available His good intentions for us, by redeeming us through His beloved Son Jesus Christ. His peace has been made available to us through His Holy Spirit, that we may love Him and our neighbors as ourselves. We were bought at a price and we are not on our own. We are therefore called to honor God with our bodies and flee from sexual immorality, for our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in us, and whom we have received from God (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). God is a perfect God, and perfects all that concerns us by His divine purpose, for the glory of His name. He saved us not according to our own works, but according to His grace and purpose which was given to us before time, in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We belong to God, and He has called us for His divine purpose. We are all members of the body of Christ, and we coexist with each other, and edify one another with love, as we advance His kingdom. We should not be worried about our future but should trust in God with all our hearts and learn not on our own understanding but acknowledge Him in all we do. Since we have been called according to His purpose, then we trust that well things will work for our good and for His kingdom purposes.
PRAYER
You are Great and Mighty God, we thank You for this far that You have brought us, and the far that You are taking us. May You reveal to each one of us our purposes and enable us to accomplish all that You have called us to do. You are Great and Mighty in all Your works. You created us in Your own image and likeness, and that exist in heaven, on earth and under the earth, all creation bows down before You our Lord and Savior. We appreciate You for who You are and what You have done in our lives. We approach Your throne of grace with boldness Jesus that we may obtain grace and mercy to help us during the time of need. We rely on Your mercy and grace, enable us to do Your will. We thank You and praise Your holy name. You have obtained victory for us, all glory and praise belongs to You. May the Lord bless us and keep us. The the Lord make His face shine upon us and be gracious to us. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon us and give us peace. Amen
