THEME: POWER OF TWO

Ecclesiastes 4:12

“Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

INSIGHT

-The Parable of the Good Samaritan reveals the importance of loving one another, and helping those in need (Luke 10:25-37). As much as it exposes the value of helping those in need, it also teaches us on the importance of togetherness. Probably, the thieves could not have overpowered the men if they were two and better still, they could not have attacked them in the first place. Valuable friendships that are grounded on selflessness go along way to form powerful bonds. When the Good Samaritan was beaten up by robbers and left half dead, he was neither aided by the priest nor Levite who looked the other way, but a Samaritan. There are friends in our lives who are open and honest with us. Some are close to us and we allow them to correct, rebuke, encourage, support and motivate us to be all that God has called us. One of the reasons why many people fall away is because they have no one they can be accountable to and call true friends. In Proverbs 18:24 we see that, “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” God has the best interest for us and gives us godly friends when we ask Him.

SUMMARY

The analogy of the threefold code touches on certain main areas of our lives. We are called to unite as two in our marriages, friendships, businesses, prayers, ministries, communion and other areas of our lives, Christ becomes the third code Who unites us with His love. Which code or relationship can stand without Christ? It is only through the grace of God that we are able to stand and not by our own works. Therefore as we have seen, the power of two is revealed through marriage unions where two become one in Christ. Also, people with similar goals come together to form strong brands. Major partnerships are established from certain support systems that overcome huddles of life. Thirdly, friendships that are built on mutual, trust, support and selflessness build stronger bonds founded upon love. Fourthly, powerful unions are anchored on prayer and fellowship, and God reveals Himself. Paul and Silas prayed together and experienced victory in Christ and overcame diverse challenges. They also ministered together which brings us to the last point, discipleship. Jesus commissioned His disciples and send them two by two. One person might be overpowered by the enemy, but two can withstand him, but a threefold code founded upon the Rock Who is Christ, can never be broken.
