THEME: A PURE HEART

Matthew‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

INSIGHT
-To see God, one needs to look to Him with both physical and spiritual eyes; or the eyes of the heart. We have experienced and heard many testimonies of people who have seen Jesus Christ, Who is fully God and fully Man. Jesus has appeared to many and this continues to strengthened our faith in Him. Moses requested God to show him His glory (Exodus 33:18). It is a blessing to see God and experience Him in our daily lives, which transcends to eternity. It is also hope that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is (1 John 3:2).

SUMMARY
Google top search analysis revealed that the most researched areas globally are; COVID-19, fitness, health and cosmetics, among others. It shows that most of the users who conduct the search are concerned with their physical health and appearance, and materiality as opposed to spiritual health. To have a healthy heart, we need to focus more on our spiritual health and our physical health will be perfected in Christ. We are called to feed on the Bread of life who is Jesus Christ through reading the word, praying and fasting, walking according to faith and doing God’s will. The heart is the spiritual barometer that measures the intensions and actions of man, and God looks at the heart. God does not does not see and man sees, He does not look at the physical appearance but looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). During the election of a king in Israel, God chose David who had a pure heart and would do God’s will. David was a man after God’s own heart. The eye is the lamp of the body. “If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light”(Matthew 6:22). God requires us to be pure in heart so that we can see Him and receive an eternal blessing. To see Him through His truth, His love, His purpose, His sovereignty, His covenant character and His beatific nature. Jesus confronted the Pharisees saying, “Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean” (Matthew 23:26). The Pharisees were mostly concerned with the outside, what they wore, how they fasted and prayed, and they kept the law. Jesus condemned them for failing to enter His kingdom and hindering others from accessing Him through faith. When we believe in Jesus Christ and follow His will, the Holy Spirit purifies our hearts, and makes us like Him. 1 John 3:3 reveals that, “All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure”. Our hope and faith in Christ makes us pure in heart and we receive an eternal blessing. A pure heart believes and fully trusts in Jesus Christ. When we believe in Christ, we are in Him and He is in us, and He gives us the gift of eternal life. Christ justifies us and charges all our charges against Him. We who believe in Him have having been justified by faith, and have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). In Christ, He reconciles us to Himself. We are called to forgive one another that we may also be forgiven. A pure heart is also a heart that is undivided. It is a heart that is purified and cleansed by the blood of Jesus from all iniquity. God calls all who are double minded to be purified in heart, and draw near to Him and He will draw near us (James 4:8). Lastly, a pure heart loves. God is love and purities our hearts when we love Him, our enemies and all our neighbors as ourselves. The blessing is to rejoice in His eternal joy. Jesus reminds us that the blessed requirement that we need to see Him is to have a pure heart.
