THEME: A NEW THING

Revelation 21:1-5

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.””

INSIGHT

-A comparison has been drawn between the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. The above scriptures delineate the main features of the kingdom of light that is encompassed in the New Jerusalem, set to be revealed after the second coming of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. According to the scriptures, the New Jerusalem will come down from heaven to replace the former earth, as a new heaven is formed. Jesus will take away every pain and sorrow. There will be no more crying nor weeping, and no more death for the former things will pass away. There will neither be hunger nor thirst, the sun shall not strike, nor will there be heat (Revelation 7:16-17, Isaiah 65:17-19). On the flip side, the kingdom of darkness will encompass weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 8:12). Jesus is the light of world and in Him there is no darkness. There will be no need for the sun or the moon for Jesus will be the only source of light. He is the way, the truth and the life, and no one come to the Father but through Him (John 14:6). It is therefore vital to give prominence to His word and His will, to accept Him in our lives and believe in Him, and we will dwell with Him forever and ever with Him. Let us ask the Lord to do a new thing to those who do not know Him and give them the gift of salvation. As believers this is our hope. We look forward to His promise where we will dwell in His righteousness forever (2 Peter 3:13).
