THEME: PLANS OF GOD
Hebrews 13:20-21
“Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
INSIGHT
-Apostle Paul delivers his final exhortations to the Hebrews. He prays for their peace and the grace of God to shepherd them in every good work as it is the will of God. At the beginning of this chapter, Paul instructs them to keep loving one another. The chapter may seem rather inclined to acts of love that are led by our good Shepherd Jesus Christ, to make us complete in every good work by His blood. The summary of these applications to Christians that they ought to have faith in God and choose to obey Him, even during times of struggle. To also show hospitality to strangers, visit and pray for prisoners, pray for those who are mistreated, remain pure in marriage and shun away from sexual immorality, refrain from the love of money, keep away from strange teachings and submit to the authorities, by the grace of God. Jesus is our good Shepherd and we are His sheep. We are always called to hear His voice and follow Him. Since His plans for us are perfect, we should have confidence that He who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).
PRAYER
LORD You are my shepherd, I shall not be in want. You make me lie down in green pastures. You lead me beside quiet waters. You restore my soul. You guide me in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Your house LORD, forever. Thank You for Your love and saving grace upon our lives. We humbly ask You to grant peace and direction to all those who are in prison. Be with all the children living in the streets that Your saving grace may always be upon them. Remember with mercy all those who have lost jobs and business opportunities especially during time of COVID_19 that You may open many new doors for them. Be with all those who are sick, suffering and those who are bereaved that Your peace may always surround them. Be with our leaders both political and religious that their policies may only be governed by Your truth. Strengthen us Lord when we are facing trials and tribulations, by Your grace. Work in us every wok of salvation and lead us in the way we should go. Help us to love You Father and one another as ourselves, and make us complete in every good work that we may always be pleasing in Your sight, for the glory of Your name. Your plans are perfect in our lives Jesus, may our purposes bring honor to Your name. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forevermore. Amen
