THEME: FEAR OF THE LORD
Deuteronomy 6:24-25
“And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day. Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us.’’
INSIGHT
-The fear of the Lord means to respect, obey, submit to God, to keep His commandments, to love God & our neighbours & to live by the Spirit which leads to life. The fear of the Lord has been sited countless times in the Bible including; with the fear of the Lord comes wisdom (Prov 1:7; Prov 2:1; Prov 9:10; Job 28:28), fear of the Lord is a catalyst of provision, blessings, riches & honor to one & his descendants (2 Chr 17:10; Ps 33:18-19; Ps 31:19; Isa 33:6; Prov 14:26-27; ), it results to direction from God (Ps 112:1-3; Ps 25:12-14; Ps 111:5; Ps 115:13-14), leads to Gods’ protection but destruction will befall the wicked (Ps 145:19-20; Ps 34:7-9; Prov 28:14; Ecc 7:18; Ecc 8:12; Rev 11:18), it yields Gods’ mercy (Ps 103:11; Lk 1:50), it is a Spirit of the Lord (Isa 11:1-2), it should be taught in churches (Acts 9:31), it secures one to sonship & eternal life (Mal 3:16-17).
-The law was given to us through Moses, & grace & truth came through Jesus Christ, for through His grace we are made righteous; & are able to keep the law which He has written into our hearts & minds. We are called to set our minds & hearts to the fear the Lord & not on our former lusts in ignorance but to fear sin; & live by Gods’ grace through faith. Since we are all sons of God through faith in Christ (Gal 3:26), we are called to be holy for our Father is holy, & to love God & our neighbors for love is the fulfillment of the law (Rom 13:10).
PRAYER
We thank You Father for we have began the week healthy & strong, be glorified to the ends of the world. You have said in Your word Lord that You will fulfill the desires of those who fear You; that You will hear our cry; to save & preserves us in Your love; we trust in You Jesus. Be merciful unto us Oh Lord, forgive us our sins & give us the grace to seek first Your kingdom & Your righteousness. The world & it’s lusts will pass away Lord but those who do Your will live forever; we believe, strengthen us Jesus to dwell in Your love now & forever. Amen
