THEME: SEASON
Acts 14:17
“Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”
INSIGHT
-Apostle Paul & Barnabas were preaching in Lystra, a place where most of the people worshiped foreign gods. Paul described the goodness of Jesus witnessed through provision of rain from heaven yielding food for man & animals in its season, spiritual food through His word & fullness of joy in our hearts. The Holy Spirit also fills our hearts with spiritual food through the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility & self control so that we may remain in the will of the Father & receive strength in all things. Paul also reminds us that God works in us & through us, & we are called to point others to Jesus our Savior.
SUMMARY
-God created the moon to mark the seasons & the sun knows when to go down (Psa 104:19). God also created four seasons; winter, summer, spring & autumn which constantly alternate every year & are designed for every purpose under heaven. Some seasons are associated with sowing while others with reaping. Gods’ creation is perfect & from the beginning; He created us to be fruitful, to multiply & fill the earth, & He will most definitely accomplish His purpose in all creation. Further, each one of us has been created differently with unique gifts & abilities which require exploitation. In our different abilities & according to the season; some of us sow while others reap & one cannot accurately compare their lives with that of others. We are only encouraged to sow in the right season for sluggards do not plow & at harvest time they look but find nothing (Prov 20:4). In our Christian lives, faith in Christ is the foundation & the avenue to eternal life. As the true Vine; Christ is interested in our fruitfulness as those branches in Him that do not bear fruit are cut off & those that bear fruit He prunes so that they may bear more fruit (John 15:2). When we commit all things to the the true Vine, He enables us to bear much fruit & establishes our steps for without Him we can do nothing. God also tells us that we should persevere in prayer, righteousness, faith, good works & to never loose hope for at His own time, He will make everything perfect.
PRAYER
Many are the plans in our hearts Lord but You ordain our steps, receive all our thanksgiving & praise. We commit all things to You Jesus, fight for us, our families & nation for the battle belongs to You. You have promised to give us rain so that we may bear fruit in its season; we trust in You faithful Father & thank You for making all things perfect at Your own time. Comfort, strengthen, encourage & establish us Father in Your grace. All creation rightfully gives You thanks Lord, be exulted forever more. Amen
Blessed Weekend
