Matthew 6:16-18
Fasting to Be Seen Only by God “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
INSIGHT
-When fasting, one should not be sad & gloomy to show everyone that they are fasting.
-Jesus said that; one should wash their face & be joyful for God who sees in secret rewards openly.
-Fasting also can be a way of chastening one from sins not just fasting from food.
PRAYER
Jesus my Father, as I fast from all immorality come into my heart to strength me; for I’m only human. I know Father that You see in secret & You will reward me openly. All this for Your glory my God. Amen.
