THEME: PRESENCE
John 14:15-16
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.
INSIGHT
-Jesus assures us that the Holy Spirit will always be present in us if we love Him & keep His commandments. This brings a sense of comfort that God the Holy Spirit is always present in us to help us in all things. By seeking first Gods’ kingdom & His righteousness we access all things. He gives us the fruit of love which enables us to keep His word through grace.
SUMMARY
-Presence in Hebrew is written as panim & it means appear, manifest, ubiety & existence.
-Joseph went through many challenges in his life for he was thrown into a pit, sold as a slave & imprisoned; before his presence was felt in Egypt. At age 30, God revealed to him Pharaoh’s dream which elevated him to governorship (Gen 41:46). Age 30 is very significant in the Bible for its when priests could serve in the tabernacle of meeting (Num 4:3), Ezekiel was called by God (Ezek 1:1), David became king (2 Sam 5:4), Jesus started His ministry (Luke 3:23) etc. Through prayer & perseverance; Joseph was able to conquer these challenges. Moses also knew the importance of walking with God through experience. When God said to the Israelites that His presence would not go with them to Canaan because of their hard heartedness, Moses pleaded with God & He promised to accompany them to Canaan, show them grace & give them rest (Exo 33:13-14). Gods’ presence was also felt through the Ark of the covenant in the Old Testament & was often kept in the temple. Christ calls us to consult Him first; by giving Him pre-eminence in all our plans so that He may establish our steps. In Psa 95:1-3 we are also reminded to glorify God with thanksgiving & shouts of praise for He is the Rock of our salvation & King above all gods. Some people do not recognise God & have idolised money, power, witchcraft, leaders etc. Apostle Paul paints a picture of fear of God when he applauded Philippians for their unyielding obedience (Phil 2:12-13). God speaks to us the same message that we should work out our own salvation in obedience to His word not to please people but to be made whole by Christ Who dwells in us. Christ therefore calls anyone who is willing; to follow Him with obedience so that each one may do His will through His grace that is sufficient for us all. Through the same grace we are more than conquerors in Christ. For this reason; we give thanks to God in our current situations, praise His name for the far He has brought us & trust that He is always present in our journey of success.
PRAYER
Almighty & ever living God, we thank You for everything You have done & You are still doing in our lives, families & society. Look kindly upon us Your sons & grant us peace & love. Your presence is all we desire, help us Lord to prioritize you in all our thoughts, plans & dealing. May everything in us, our families, our leaders & nation that raises itself against Your knowledge be brought to captivity in Your obedience. Cover us with Your precious blood that we may be made righteous. You are the Rock of our salvation & King above all gods, we praise You & worship You now & forever. Amen
Blessed Weekend
