THEME: AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST

Genesis 41:39-44 NKJV

Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he set him over all the land of Egypt. Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”

INSIGHT

Joseph became the prime minister in Egypt and the second in command in the nation. He ruled over all the people and his authority was not only felt in Egypt but in all the neighboring countries. Joseph preserved grain during the first seven years of plenty and sold it during the seven years of lack. Joseph was an ambassador to the nations, and his tale demonstrates the preservation work of Jesus Christ, who provides for us during plentiful times and seasons of drought. We are called to be ambassador to the entire world and represent Jesus Christ and kingdom citizens as we preach the gospel and live it daily.

SUMMARY

An ambassador is an appointee representing heaven on earth and he/she is appointed by the king. An ambassadors task offers diplomacy and international relations. Paul speaking to the Corinthians, reveals the message of reconciliation and pleads with the people to be reconciled with God. For it is God through Christ who reconciles the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to us, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation, then we are ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:19-20). An ambassador must we well behaved and should be able to represent his/her country with dignity. Proverbs 13:17 reveals that, “A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful ambassador brings health.” An ambassador must remain in constant communication with his government and speaks the message of his/her king given a situation of war or peace. Jeremiah 49:14 tells us that an ambassador was sent to the nations the people should together and rise up to battle against Edom. An ambassador seeks the interests of his nation and to pursue its influence in another country. Believers are the property of heaven even though we live on earth. As the government is responsible of taking care of its ambassadors wherever they are, so does the kingdom of God take care of our needs. We are ambassadors of Christ thus we share in all these privileges as our rights in the kingdom of God. It doesn’t matter what your background was, who you were or what you did. We receive diplomatic immunity once we accept Jesus as our personal Savior. We then become fruitful for our government and Father who at in heaven, supplying all our needs according to His riches in glory, in Christ Jesus. God calls us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all other things He will add unto us (Matthew 6:33). The ambassador’s life does not belong to himself but the one who sent him. Paul was an ambassador in chains that he may only represent the one who sent him (Ephesians 6:20). Our total commitment should be in Christ Jesus who formed us and purchased us with His precious blood, and we belong to Him.

PRAYER

As a deer pants for brooks of water so our souls thirst for You Lord. We are Your ambassadors dear Jesus may You use us for Your glory. If we live, we live for You Jesus, and if we die, we die for You. Whether we live or die, we belong to You Jesus our loving Master. Thank You for loving us and for choosing us. May You help us and strengthen us with Your power and grace to accomplish the work that You have assigned us to do here on earth, for the glory and honor of Your name. Our Father who art in heaven; hallowed be Your name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory; forever and ever. May You bless us abundantly so that in all things at all times having all that we need, we may abound in every good work. May You bless us and keep us dear Jesus. May You shine Your face towards us and be gracious unto us. May You show Your countenance unto us and give us peace. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forevermore. Amen.
