THEME: FREEDOM

Acts 9:1-6 NKJV

Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

INSIGHT

Saul before he was converted to Paul an apostle of Jesus Christ was a persecutor of God’s disciples. We find in the earlier chapter that he entered every house, and dragged off men and women, committing them to prison. Saul rebelled against God and the church suffered from his ruthlessness, even as he suffered oppression from the devil. He continued and expanded this work to the city of Damascus with the direct approval of the highest religious authorities, the high priest. Jesus appeared in bright light and convicted Saul, who was converted and became a staunch follower of Christ.

We humbly ask You to forgive us where we have gone astray and done that which is not pleasing to You. May You cleanse us and wash us with Your precious blood. We humbly request You to deliver all those who are addicted to drugs and alcohol, sexual immorality, gambling, and those who are persecuting Christian’s all over the world. May You deliver all persecuted Christian’s and set them free. We honor You Lord and give You praise, and it is in Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen
