Genesis 12:3

I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

INSIGHT
-Family in Greek is written as genos & it means kindred, clan, native & descendants. Family can be defined as all people considered as descendants of a common progenitor. It can also be a group of related plants or animals forming a category ranking above a genus & below an order; & normally comprising several to many genera.
-Abraham excelled in faith with the kind of sacrifices that he had to go through in his life to demonstrate what believing in God really means. Through His sacrifice of leaving his family domicile in Haran, all families on the earth formed before him & after were blessed, not limited to the first family of Adam & Eve, though which a curse came to earth. The blessing of the family unit was pronounced in Gods’ promise to make him the father of a great nation. In Gal 3:7-8, Apostle Paul advices that those who are of faith are sons of Abraham & that God justified the Gentiles blessing all the nations through His Son Jesus that we were united as one family in Him. We are therefore called to have total faith in God; Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

PRAYER
We thank You Father for the gift of family. We humbly implore You to bless, protect, preserve & grant special graces in all family settings all over the world. Unite all families especially during this festive season that Your love may become practical in our homes. Dear Jesus, impart in our hearts forgiveness that all our relations may share in Your mercy. Hear the prayers of all those who are yet to be united in marriage, all those who are married, those who are separated, divorced or bereaved, those who are called to celibacy; that Your word may become flesh in our lives. Father, through Abraham You blessed all families, we receive Your blessings today in our various special family settings & needs. We praise & glorify Your holy name. Amen
