THEME: WISDOM
1 Corinthians 1:30 (NIV)
“It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.”
INSIGHT
-God has called us into union and communion with Christ, who has become our wisdom. He is the head of the church and has released His righteousness and holiness unto us through faith in Him, and empowerment of the Holy Spirit by redemption in His blood.
SUMMARY
Wisdom is a prime gift of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8), that reveals God’s message for a particular people, nation or season. Wisdom is supreme and even though it may cost us everything we are called to get it, for it protects and preserves (Proverbs 4:6-7), causing prosperity. Wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness (Ecclesiastes 2:13). Wisdom begins when one fears the Lord and keeps His commandments (Psalm 111:10), and the one who seeks the knowledge of God the Holy One has understanding and receives long life (Proverbs 9:10-11). God gives wisdom to the one who asks and is lacking without finding fault (James 1:5). God also gives wisdom to the one who pleases Him, and the sinner gathers and stores up wealth for him (Ecclesiastes 2:26). The one who forsakes the knowledge of God and forgets His laws is destroyed for lack of wisdom (Hosea 4:6). Job survived destruction for he was a wise and upright man, even as he lost his livestock and children, he did not curse God. He made it mandatory to sacrifice a burnt offering for his family lest his children sinned against God or cursed Him (Job1:1-5). The Lord restored to him double what he had lost (Job 42:10). Wisdom is not found near many words but in the one who holds his tongue (Proverbs 10:19). God has promised that since wisdom is like honey to the one who finds it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off (Proverbs 24:14). God has given us His Only Beloved Son Jesus Christ who is our wisdom through righteousness, holiness and redemption, and has opened the eyes of our understanding that we may know the hope of His calling that is the riches of His glorious inheritance and has seated us with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:17-23). Christ gives us wisdom from heaven which is pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (James 3:17-18).
