THEME: VICTORY

Matthew 12:20-21

A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench, Till He sends forth justice to victory; And in His name Gentiles will trust.”

INSIGHT
-Christ Who is gentle at heart, came to heal all our sicknesses & take away our burdens for we were like bruised reeds about to break. He did not leave us orphan but gave us the Holy Spirit Who dwells in our hearts that our lamps may never run out of oil like a smoking wick. He obtained victory over all our sins & weaknesses that we may always call Him Abba Father.

SUMMARY
-Victory is written as teshuah in Hebrew & it means triumph, win, conquest, success & contention. It can be defined as success over an enemy in battle or war or an engagement ending in such triumph.
-It was after the Israelites deliverance from the hands of the Egyptians that they were attacked by the Amalekites. Moses knew the secret of winning the war. He sat on a stone, a position of authority & lifted his hands, & with the help of Aaron & Hur, they were able to conquer the Amalekites (Exo 17:11-13). He later built an altar of prayer & praise to God, & called it The-Lord-Is-My-Banner; for the Lord promised to fight the Amalekites for many generations. That means that the Amalek spirit is a spirit of destruction which opposes Gods ‘ will. Apostle Paul confirms to us that we wrestle against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this age & spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places but not human beings (Eph 6:12). Just like Moses did, we should fight our battles in prayer with our spiritual hands lifted in agreement; for when we grow weary in faith the enemies prevails. Our Faith in Christ is therefore our source of victory, the spiritual armour by which we overcome temptations. By Faith we cleave to Christ Who sanctifies & purifies our hearts from those sensual lusts in the world which sway us away from His laws (1 John 5:3-5). Apostle Paul tells us that the law is not a burden for whatever is born of God overcomes the world. Christ overcame death which originated from sin & draws it’s power from the law. By the indwelling of the Spirit, our words & deeds reflect Gods’ true nature, that we may always make firm decisions to follow Christ despite our fleshly lusts. He took the keys of hades & resurrected from the dead achieving the ultimate victory; that we may remain holy just like the Father & inherit His kingdom (1 Cor 15:55-57). We may therefore boast in our infirmities & needs for Christs’ sake because when we are weak then we are strong; for His grace is sufficient for us & His strength made perfect in weakness (2 Cor 12:9-10). It is only just therefore to give God the highest praise for sacrificing His life for us that His salvation & righteousness may become evident in all the earth (Psa 98:1-2). In the same manner; He makes sacrifices by His mercy & grace, in our daily lives; which sometimes do not comprehend; that we may also obtain victory in our walk with Him. We should therefore give thanks to the Lord all the time & in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Jesus Christ.

PRAYER
