REST

Genesis 2:2-3 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

INSIGHT -In Hebrew, rest is written as nuach & means stop, recline, remnant, suplus, repose, lie down, interruption, anchor, quiet, peace, sanctuary, relax. -Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Gen 2:7, And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. -Gods’ creation was very good & He put everything in perfect form until end of the world comes. On the seventh day God commanded every man & beast to rest as He made it a holy day. Man came to life when God had finished His creation & resting. As we continue with the work of tilling land in our various capacities, we enjoy His everlasting love.

PRAYER: Thank You Father; for creating all things in their perfect form. Thank You for Your tender mercies & loving kindness that You continue to show us. May we find rest & peace within our homes, work places, in our country & in the whole world always. Amen

Exodus 33:13-14 Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.” And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

INSIGHT -Moses asked God who was going to assist him lead the people of Israel to the promised land; when he made this request. The Lord journeyed with them & gave them rest.

PRAYER: Stay with us Lord, for it is necessary to have You in our presence & give us rest. Show us Your ways so that we may know You & find grace in Your sight always. Amen

Hebrews 4:8-10 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

INSIGHT -In Joshua 11:23, So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Then the land rested from war. Mat 11:28-29, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. -Joshua gave the Israelites inheritance & the land was at peace but Christ died on the cross for our eternal life & freedom from all tribulations.

PRAYER: We cast all our burdens unto You; Oh Lord Jesus, for You care for us. We humbly ask You to forgive us all our sins & give us rest from all that causes us distress. Thank You for Your eternal love for us. Amen

Philippians 4:4-7 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

INSIGHT -We are called to rejoice in the Lord every time; when happy, sad, distressed, celebrating or mourning. To shed off all anxiety & pray giving thanks to God. The peace of Christ will therefore guard our hearts & minds so that we may find rest.

PRAYER: We humbly come to You Lord; thanking You for the gift of life, breath, provisions & everything that You have done unto us. Increase our faith in You so that we may be still in all situations & always give thanks. Bestore unto us Your peace Father, so that our hearts & minds may always be at rest. Amen

John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

INSIGHT -In Gal 4:3-7, When we were children, were in bondage under elements of the world. But in the fullness of time, God sent forth His Son born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God had sent forth the Spirit of His son into your hearts. Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, if a son, then a heir of God through Christ. -Rest is symbolised by the sabbath day which is holy/ God’s presence is the source of rest/ Christ gave us rest from our works by dying on the cross/rest comes by rejoicing in the Lord in all situations in prayer, supplications & thanksgiving.

PRAYER: Abba Father, we thank You & give You praise for everything You have done unto us. We are Your son’s take control of the thrones of our lives. We welcome You into our hearts to mold us physically, spiritually & mentally. May Your peace abide within us now & forever. Amen
