BLOOD

Genesis 49:11 Binding his donkey to the vine, And his donkey’s colt to the choice vine, He washed his garments in wine, And his clothes in the blood of grapes.

INSIGHT -In Hebrew, blood is written as dam & it means kinship, bloodshed, affinity, life -Jacob was addressing his sons & told them what would befall them in the last days. His 12 sons were the tribes of Israel. In this verse he was addressing Judah who was in the lineage of Jesus (Mat 1:2). -This is a picture of Christ washing away our sins in His blood. Binding the donkey to the vine is a figure of us being anchored to Christ(The True Vine).
-In Rev 1:5, Christ washed us from our sins in His own blood. Rev 7:14, washing robes in the blood of the Lamb makes them white. Rev 19:13, Christ rode a white horse with a robe dipped in blood.

PRAYER: Jesus our Father, wash us with Your blood & cleanse us from all unrighteousness. By the power of Your blood we are set free from all iniquity. Let us be anchored on You always, our Lord & Savior & seek Your direction in all matters. Amen

Genesis 4:10-11 And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

INSIGHT -Cain gave an offering of the fruit of the ground but Abel gave the firstborn of his flock, a fat one. Cain was angry since God did not respect him & his sacrifice, so he killed his brother Abel. The blood(soul) of Abel cryed out to God from the ground & brought a curse upon Cain where he became a vagabond. By this he lost his inheritance & was exposed to the risk of death. -In Prov 6:17, God hates hands that shed innocent blood. Lev 17:14, life of all flesh is its blood.

PRAYER Lord our Father, protect us from all evil & those who come to kill us physically, spiritually, morally, economically or psychologically. Direct us in our giving so that it may always be acceptable to You. Amen

Exodus 12:22-23 And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning. For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.

INSIGHT -Moses was given firm instructions for the passover where the Israelites would be released from the hands of the Egyptians to go & praise God. The first born of all the Egyptians, man & beast were killed by the destroyer as Israelites were safe in their houses.
-In John 10:9-10, Jesus says I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

PRAYER: Jesus our Lord, we praise You & magnify Your Holy Name. Deliver us from all situations that cause us anxiety & pain. Cover us with Your blood which is a binding covenant forever. We humbly come to You asking for Your mercy so that we may have life & life more abundantly. Amen

John 6:54-56 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.

INSIGHT -Jesus says that whoever eats His body (bread) & drinks His blood (wine) abides in Him & Christ in him i.e Holy communion. -In 1 Cor 11:24-25, during the last supper Jesus gave His disciples bread & wine then said do this in remembrance of Me.

PRAYER: Lord our Father, lead us to abide in You & abide with us. By Your body & blood we receive everlasting life. May we journey with You in the same body & in the new covenant of Your blood to give us faith, hope & love. Amen

John 19:33-34 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

INSIGHT -Jesus committed His Spirit to God & died. Soldiers pierced His side & immediately blood & water came out.
-In Mat 3:16-17, Jesus was baptised & immediately after He came from the water; the Spirit of God alighted upon Him & a voice came from heaven saying “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. The beginning & the end of Jesus’ ministry involved water & His end water & blood & the Holy Spirit (Helper) came. -Jesus shed blood & water which signified remission of sins by which we are qualified as sons of God. -Blood represents the soul/ life/ blood of Christ is significant for remission of our sins & assurance of eternal life

PRAYER: Lord our Father, We give You all the honor & praise. You shed blood for the remission of our sins, forgive us. Come into our hearts & protect us from all evil. May we share in Your love as Your sons to abide in You & You in us always. Amen
