John 10:38
But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.
INSIGHT
-Believe in Greek is written as pisteuó and aman in Hebrew; which means to have faith in/upon, to entrust, to trust or put ones trust in God. It also means to believe that someone is saying the truth or have confidence in a report. Numerous Biblical references are evident for the word believe including but not limited to; Gen 15:6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness, Heb 11:6 he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, Deu 1:29-33 Moses reminded the Israelites that God delivered them from slavery in Egypt yet they did not believe, Prov 14:15 the simple believe anything but the prudent give thought to their steps, Mat 21:21-22 Jesus said “If you believe you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer”, Mk 5:35-36 Jesus said to them; “Don’t be afraid just believe”, Acts 8:36-37 Philip baptized the Ethiopian eunuch and he believed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, Rom 6:8 if we died with Christ; we believe that we shall also live with Him, 1 Cor 13:4-7 love believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, John 3:16 whoever believes in Jesus Christ will not perish but have everlasting life etc.
-Many among the Jews did not believe Jesus and as He taught them, He encouraged them to believe in His divine works; so that they may know that He is in the Father and the Father in Him. Through this revelation; we believe that Jesus and the Father are one together with the Holy Spirit our Helper; in the Holy Trinity. Christ has revealed Himself to us through His word, servants, works, majesty, power, grace and is always present in us and with us, blessed are they that have not seen and yet believe (Jn 20:29).
PRAYER
How awesome is Your name Lord God Almighty who was, who is and who is to come. You are filled with Majesty and praise Jesus King of glory. Thank You for Your mercy and love upon our lives and enabling us see this day in perfect health. Heal all those who are sick, weak and suffering in our society and renew their strength merciful Father. Give us the grace Jesus to forgive all those who offend us and forgive us our trespasses to. Bless us indeed and enlarge our territories that Your hand would be with us, and that You would keep us from evil, that we may not lack favour. We believe and trust in You Jesus; now and forever. Amen
John 16:7-11
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
INSIGHT
-After His death and resurrection, Jesus went away to the Father but He did not leave us orphaned but gave us the Holy Spirit. At the cross Jesus destroyed the power of satan and through His love sanctifies us by His blood that we may be holy as we hold fast our faith in Him. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit and are always reminded to depart from evil and remain in the righteousness of God as we repent and believe in the gospel of Christ. Jesus promised that rivers of living water will flow from the innermost being of those who believe in Him (Jn 7:37-38). The Holy Spirit gives us the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self control, that we may remain in Him as He is in us. He also grants us spiritual gifts of healing, faith, wisdom, knowledge, discernment, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, performing miracles, prophecy, that manifest His great power for the glory of His name (1 Cor 12:7-10). Noah was warned of the coming judgment, he believed and was saved. Abraham believed in God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. We too are reminded to believe in Christ which is our account for righteousness and offers us a guarantee of an eternal inheritance with Christ our Lord (Jn 3:16).
PRAYER
Sanctify our hearts, minds and bodies Holy Spirit that we may be holy. Fill us with Your gifts and fruit and help us always as we hold fast our faith in You. Have mercy Holy Spirit on the armed forces all over the world that You may protect them and grant them peace. We pray for all the war torn countries that You may grant them rest. Be with all the nations which have been affected by Ebola and other deadly diseases that You may heal them Jesus. Have mercy on all our schools, our children and teachers that they may always seek You in they do and have good success. Remember all our leaders including our president Lord that they may seek You first in all their assignments and govern the nation according to Your purpose. We pray for all those who neither know You nor believe in You that You may bring them to faith. Be with all our churches Holy Spirit; that You may impart us with Your graces as we witness You to the world. Remember us Lord in our work, studies, businesses, families that You may answer all our heart desires according to Your will. Grant us Your grace everywhere we go that we may always radiate Your love; Jesus. Amen
Proverbs 14:15
The simple believe anything, but the prudent give thought to their steps.
INSIGHT
-Many stories are told everyday about people, events, et cetera; but we are advised to express prudence in thought and examine all our reactions and responses. Some words are uttered in deception and discretion must be exercised. These stories may adversely affect ones emotional, psychological, social, financial, economic, intellectual and religious orientation. Caution must be taken against every wind of doctrine, trickery of men and cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting like infants, but we are called to speak the truth through love that we may grow in all things into Him who is the head – Christ (Eph 4:14-15). Jesus is the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God (Rev 3:14). He is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by Him (Jn 14:6). He is not a man that He should lie or a son of man that He should repent, and what He has said He shall do it (Num 23:19). Jesus calls us to believe in Him and He shall bring our prayers to pass according to His will. Only in His word is all truth and we are reminded to test every word with His truth. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, we are guided in all truth for we believe in Him.
PRAYER
You are the way, the truth and the life Jesus; we believe in You. Give us the gift of wisdom Holy Spirit that we may discern every deceptive spirit that may come to cause us pain. Guide us in all truth and protect us from evil men who have chosen the way of destruction. Forgive us for the many times we have uttered deceptive words and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Purify our tongues, minds and hearts from everything that is not pleasing to You Lord and cover us by Your precious blood. May Your word dwell deep in our hearts so that we may not be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine and trickery of men. Oh, Lord bless us indeed and enlarge our territories that Your hand would be with us, and that You would keep us from evil, that we may not lack favour. Amen
Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
INSIGHT
-Faith is a symbol of our belief in Christ and without it; we cannot please God. Unlike Barnabas and the other apostles; Ananias and Sapphira though they believed; did not fully exercise their faith. After selling their land, they did not report part of their proceeds but conspired to lie to the Holy Spirit which led to their death (Acts 5:1-11). Moses like many other patriarchs of faith refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God rather than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward (Heb 11:24-26). It is through faith that we look to Christ the rewarder of all of us who diligently seek Him. Jesus reminds us that if we have faith and do not doubt we will move mountains and whatever we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive it (Mat 21:21-22). We are called to exercise our faith in God as we diligently seek Him with our focus on the reward which He won for us at Calvary.
PRAYER
You are the rewarder of all those who diligently seek You Jesus; have mercy on us. Increase our faith Holy Spirit and deliver us from every evil desire may jeopardize our relationship with You. Forgive us Holy Spirit for the many times we have lied to You and strengthen us in Your love. Help us to always follow You Jesus looking to the reward that You gave us free through Your death and resurrection. May Your grace Lord be with all those who are jobless, struggling in business, unmarried, orphaned, childless, divorced, widows, widowers, depressed, sick and on the whole world. Look at us with mercy Jesus and answer all our prayers. You have promised to multiply us and to bless us Father for we are the seed of Abraham through Christ; we trust in You. All glory honour, praise, riches, strength and power belongs to You Jesus, now and forever. Amen
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
INSIGHT
-This scripture is taught to us during infancy and is foundational for every Christian. Through the love of God we have received the Son of light; our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; that we may believe in Him and be saved. God is love and has shared His love with the world; that we may receive His grace and salvation unto eternal life with Him.
SUMMARY
The bedrock of Christianity is our faith in Christ Jesus. Believing that Christ died for our sins that we may receive eternal life. It is through the grace of God that we have been saved and not by our works lest anyone should boast, for no one can come to Christ unless the Father draws them and He will raise us up on the last day (Jn 6:44). We believe in the Holy Trinity one God; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. And anyone who loves God is called to obey His teachings and the Father will love him and the Holy Trinity will come to him and make a home with him (Jn 14:23). Some people and religions do not believe in Jesus Christ but believe the teachings of Moses. Addressing the Jewish leaders, Jesus said to them “if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me” (Jn 5:46). Jesus calls everyone to believe in Him for no one comes to the Father but by Him. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes (Rom 10:4). And he who believes in Jesus is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (Jn 3:18 ). For everyone who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him (Jn 3:36). Jesus calls us to repentance and to believe in the gospel and the Holy Spirit will help us, confort us, intercede for us and abide in us until the last day.
PRAYER
Oh Holy Spirit; jolt us with Your love and bring us to faith in Jesus Christ that we may inherit eternal life. Renew our first love with You Jesus and enable us to love our neighbours as ourselves. In humility we ask You Holy Trinity one God; to come into our hearts and make a home with us. Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from all evil, for thine is the kingdom the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen
