AUTHORITY

Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

INSIGHT -In Hebrew; authority means dominion, power, rule, administration, lordship & government. -Man was given rulership/authority over all living creatures in the sea, air & earth. -God made a woman from man’s rib to be his helper in Gen 2:22. -The man should take his position of authority & seek God’s will in his life.

PRAYER: God my creator. You created heaven and earth & everything in it. You gave authority to man over the sea, air & earth. Reveal to me my will & calling on earth & give me the strength to accomplish it before i come back to You, Lord. You are my king & Lord & without You I’m without favor. Have mercy on me & direct my every step in Your light. Amen.

2 Kings 23:35 So Jehoiakim gave the silver and gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give money according to the command of Pharaoh; he exacted the silver and gold from the people of the land, from every one according to his assessment, to give it to Pharaoh Necho.

INSIGHT -King Jehoiakim of Jerusalem appointed by Pharaoh gave gold, silver & taxes to Pharaoh. -The governing authorities at the time King Pharaoh of Egypt received taxes from Jerusalem through King Jehoiakim which came from the people. -In Gen 47:24, King Pharaoh received one-fifth of taxes from the harvest under Joseph’s leadership.
-In 1 Sam 8:11-17, God had told Samuel to tell the people that Kings would oppress & tax them when they demanded a physical king.

PRAYER: Abba Father, You are my king & Savior. You are all powerful & ruler over all the earth. You placed kings & leaders on earth, give us good leaders, Lord. Govern & direct them in the work You commissioned them to do. Give us the patience & wisdom be submissive to the authorities & let Your will be done on earth as it in heaven. Amen

1 Peter 2:18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh.

INSIGHT -Apostle Peter writes that employees/servants should submit to their employers/masters wherether gentle or harsh. -Submission with humility is God’s will for us. -In 1 Pet 5:5, youngsters are instructed to submit to elders with humility as God resists the proud & gives grace to the humble.

PRAYER: Father God, I come to You today clothed with humility. I ask mercy & forgiveness of all my sins of pride & hard heartedness to following Your Holy will. Give me the grace to submit to the authorities, elders & masters for by this I submit to Your Word. All glory & honor to You; Y’shua forever. Amen.

Luke 3:12-14 Then tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him, “Teacher, what shall we do?” And he said to them, “Collect no more than what is appointed for you.” Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying, “And what shall we do?” So he said to them, “Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.”

INSIGHT -John the Baptist was baptising & teaching the people at river Jordan. -Tax collectors were cautioned not to collect more than what was rightfully theirs. -Soldiers were urged not to intimidate, accuse falsely & to be content with their wages. -Authorities are therefore urged to do good always & to shun from corrupt dealings.

PRAYER: Abba Father, You created heaven & earth, and all that exists belongs to You. Forgive me of all corruption in my heart, mind & body. Let me be content with my wages, do good always & to seek ye first Your kingdom. Lead me with Your eye always; Lord. Amen.

Romans 13:1-2 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.

INSIGHT -Apostle Paul writes that every authority comes from God & everyone should submit to the authorities otherwise they bring judgment upon soul. -God is the only authority as all dominion comes from Him. -Wives submit to your husbands, youth submit to your parent’s/elders, employees submit to your employers, citizens submit to the government & authorities submit to the Lord. -In conclusion, everyone should submit to God; as this is His will.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, You are the only authority. Lead & direct the governments all over the world in Your way. Give us wisdom & understanding to submit to the relevant authorities as we look to You for obedience is better than sacrifice. All power & dominion belongs to You Lord, forever. Amen.
