THEME: FREEDOM

Acts 13:38-39 NIV

Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.”

INSIGHT

Jesus Christ is available to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness prisoners through the power of the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 61:1). Those who believe in Him have the same liberty from every every sin by the grace that has been released which is a gift from God lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). Those who have been set free therefore have become slaves to God, and reap the benefit of holiness to Him resulting to eternal life (Romans 6:22).

SUMMARY

Freedom in Hebrew is written as padah which means to ransom, redeem or liberate. Its root word refers means to separate, deliver, ransom and bring to rest. Christians have freedom over sin and darkness when we follow Christ, for whoever the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). Saul was breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord and bound them in Jerusalem. Jesus appeared to him in Damascus and enlightened him that it is not the disciples that he is persecuting but Jesus Himself (Acts 9:1-6). Only the God can sets us free indeed. He delivered the children of Israel from captivity in Egypt by His outstretched arm, for His mercies endures forever (Psalms 136:10-16). His name is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe (Proverbs 18:10). We are called to stand firm in the Lord and not indulge in the flesh but serve one another humbly in love which is a fulfillment of the law (Galatians 5:13-14).
