THEME: GIFT

Matthew‬ ‭5:23-24‬ ‭‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”

INSIGHT

-Jesus often cautions about unforgiveness & in the above scripture, He reminds us that before we give our tithes, offerings & alms, we must forgive first so that the gift may become a blessing to us through reconciliation. This is mirrored in the Lord’s prayer that; before we ask for forgiveness we must forgive those who have offended us so that God may forgive our trespasses too. During this time of lent, we are reminded to forgive all those who have offended us as a sign of love that Jesus calls us to take hold of; at every moment of our lives. This is a season of fasting, prayer & alms giving. It is also a time of self examination & changing our ways to reflect the life of Christ as His children through the help of the Holy Spirit. In Titus‬ ‭2:11-13; we find that salvation came to all men through Gods’ grace, teaching us to deny ungodliness & worldly lusts, to live soberly, righteously & godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope & glorious appearing of our great God & Savior Jesus Christ. It is therefore important that we maintain high moral conduct through holiness, righteousness & faith, not only during this season but all our lives as Christ calls us.

PRAYER
We thank You Lord our Father for the gift of life & for granting us salvation through Your beloved Son Jesus Christ. Have mercy upon us, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies. Give us the grace Jesus to forgive all those who have offended us & bless the work of hands. We acknowledge our transgressions & our sins are always before us. Against You, You only Lord, we have sinned, & done evil in Your sight. Blot out our transgressions merciful Father, wash us thoroughly with Your blood from our iniquity, cleanse us from all sin & remember them no more. Create in us clean hearts, O God & renew a steadfast spirit within us. Do not cast us away from Your presence & do not take Your Holy Spirit from us. Restore unto us the joy of Your salvation & uphold us by Your generous Spirit. Our Father who at in heaven; hallowed be Your name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread & forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom the power & the glory; forever & ever. Amen
