THEME: GRACE OF GOD
Acts 20:24
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
INSIGHT
-Apostle Paul embraced the mandate entrusted upon him, to preach the gospel of grace and he made bold steps to accomplish them, even though in some instances they caused his imprisonment. He suffered for the gospel but recounted this as joy for the gospel of grace. Christ has apportioned upon each one of us different levels of grace as we serve Him and His people in different capacities (Ephesians 4:7).
SUMMARY
When the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:17). God painted a picture of the cross through Abraham when he obeyed the instructions to sacrifice his only son Isaac. Later, when Moses brought forth the law which causes sin consciousness, God still made a way of redemption through the sacrifice of a lamb for the sins of the people once a year. Christ brought forth the conscious of grace which is caused by faith in Jesus who became the Lamb of sacrifice for the sins of the world. He died once and for all and lives forever. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for as it written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” (Galatians 3:13). The blessing of Abraham came upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. The Holy Spirit thus helps us in all our needs and guides us into all truth. We are called to look at the positive aspects of life and count our blessings each day. To confess positive thoughts and declare the blessings of God in our lives that come through faith leading to undeserved favor. It is through grace that we were made children of God and a distinction is made between children of faith and those who rely on the law. Grace is a precious gift from God that we enjoy, not by our works that anyone should boast. We have been justified through faith in Christ and have received grace and truth, and boast in the hope of His glory (Romans 5:2). The Holy Spirit comes into us and guides us in all truth. He convicts us of sin, righteousness and judgement, that we may live holy lives. His grace is sufficient for us and in our weaknesses we are strong because of He who lives in us. When we are weak then we are strong in Him. It is not by our works that we are saved but it is through grace. The Holy Spirit enables us to live victorious lives for the glory of His name. He calls us to testify the gospel of grace to all the nations that salvation may come upon them. As grace is apportioned in us, each one takes part in the body of Christ for the advancement of His kingdom. The Holy Spirit guide us in our mandates and gives us His gifts and fruit, and most importantly the grace to finish strong as He has made a mark upon us who believe in Him, for we belong to Him.
