THEME: DONKEY

Matthew 21:4-5

All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.’”

INSIGHT
-As indicated before, donkeys were symbols of peace & humility; which are virtues Christ taught us, evidenced in His life. Zechariah’s prophecy was fulfilled during this triumphant entry (Zech 9:9).
-Mat 11:29, Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

SUMMARY
-Issachar; Jacob’s ninth son was described as a strong donkey lying down between two burdens. Christ calls us to cast our burdens unto Him for He cares for us.
-Prophet Balaam was on his journey to Moab to meet king Balak, when the donkey spoke. Later, Balaam’s ears could hear God, eyes were opened & he could see visions. May we be led by Christ to see & hear from Him.
-The wild donkey’s colt is considered unwise & untamable which is compared to a proud man, unable to learn from others & yield to the fear of God.
-The Spirit of the Lord came upon Samson & he killed his enemies (a thousand Philistines) with a jawbone of a donkey. The Lord protects & delivers us from all our adversaries.

PRAYER
We come to You Father, with humility in our hearts, casting all our burdens unto You. May You comfort us & give us peace. Be with our families, friends & leaders; that we may always hear from You. All glory & honor belong to You, now & forever. Amen

Blessed Weekend.
