THEME: DELAY
Exodus 13:17-18
Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt.
INSIGHT
-Delay in Hebrew is written as mahah & it means inhibit, hinder, detain, reject, postpone, lag, tarry, overstay, procrastinate & linger. Delay in life can result from : – negative mental conditioning, a test of one’s patience, a process of preparation for Gods promises, a result of disobeying God, influence by principalities etc.
-When the Lord delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, He did not lead them through the shorter route but took them round through the Red Sea. The first reason was because there was war in the land of the Philistines which would cause them to go back to Egypt because of their mental & historical conditioning. At one point they accused Moses of wanting to kill them as there were no graves in Egypt & stated that they would rather serve the Egyptians than die in the wilderness (Exo 14:11-12). Moses successfully took the people out of Egypt but failed to take Egypt out of them. They were accustomed to slavery & found comfort in oppression thus unable to receive Gods blessings. The other reason is found in Josh 5:6, where the people walked for forty years in the wilderness until one generation passed on because they disobeyed God. The Lord has prepared a table for us where cups run over, but we have to prepare to sit at the table. Our mental attitude & willingness to change determines how we receive what God has told us is ours.
PRAYER
Blessed are You Oh Lord in all the earth. We thank You for we have begun a new week in perfect health. Your word is a lamp to our feet & light to our path. Teach us Your statutes & make Your face shine upon us. Hide Your precepts in our hearts that we may always be obedient to Your word. Renew our minds to be ready to receive from You. Hear our prayers from the deepest parts of our hearts & fulfil them for us. May Your merciful kindness be our comfort now & forever. Amen
Blessed Week
