THEME: GENTLENESS
Philippians 4:5
Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
INSIGHT
-Gentleness is a virtue of peace & togetherness displayed by acts of love & humility. Not only by actions but also words that cause unity among all men. As king Solomon alleges; a soft answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger (Prov 15:1). Also that; by long forbearance a ruler is persuaded & a gentle tongue breaks a bone (Prov 25:15). In other words, when one has offended you & is gentle in words, it is very easy to forgive them. Also when one is gentle in nature & character, people of all classes find it easy to interact with them. A gentle tongue binds people together in love even at the wake of strife. By forbearance; we are reminded to bear & share one another’s burdens, consoling & comforting each other when in distress & correcting others with gentleness lest one is also tempted. By bearing others burden we exhibit love for neighbour thus fulfilling the law (Gal 6:1-2). God requires us to be humble at heart, in word & deed that we may be instruments of His peace.
PRAYER
Holy Spirit our Helper, instil in our hearts the fruit of gentleness that it may be manifest to all men. May the same gentle spirit aid us to tame our tongues & speak only that which is from Your kingdom. Help us also to exhibit true love for our neighbours in bearing one another’s burdens. May Your peace infiltrate our hearts & manifest in our nation that tribalism may not cause us pain. We bless You & lift Your name high, now & forever. Amen
