THEME: BEGIN STRONG

Luke 2:40

“And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.”

INSIGHT

-Jesus was fully man and fully God, and he was subject to growth and maturity from His birth. He grew physically in strength and in soul, and spirit. He also grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). As we begin this year, let us remember to ask God to increase our strength, wisdom and faith and grant us favor through His grace.

SUMMARY

Building up strength in faith is the core to excel in our God given purposes. The Lord reminds us that those who know Him and have a relationship with Him will be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32). The impartation of God’s grace precipitates faith in Jesus Christ, for it is by grace that we have been saved through faith and not by our own works lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy to be strong in grace that is in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 2:1). He indicates that it is by grace that we become strong to perform that which God has in store for us. There are various graces that expose us to the spirit of excellence that distinguish us in specific areas of our lives. There is the grace of strength, increase, marriage, leadership, ministry etc. Samson received the grace of strength and he became extremely powerful even to tare apart a lion with his bare hands (Judges 14:6). He also killed a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey (Judges 15:15), and destroyed about three thousand men and women in the temple of Dagon (Judges 16:27-30). Like Samson, Joshua one of the judges was encouraged by God to be strong and of good courage, and that the Lord will always be with him (Joshua 1:9), and he was able to capture his neighbors territories. David also relied on the grace of God fully and he won all his battles. Esther became stronger in faith through prayer and fasting, together with her people, and the Lord thwarted the plan of the enemies, elevated them to places of influence and gave them victory. When we begin strong, we partake of God victories and perform our mandates as per God’s plan. We are also reminded that to begin strong we need to uphold love in our hearts and do everything in love (1 Corinthians 16:13-14).

PRAYER

Almighty and Everlasting Father we come before Your holy presence with thanksgiving in our hearts. We thank You and bless Your holy name. You have been faithful unto us even when we have become faithless. This far You have been Ebenezer. We thank You for protecting us, providing for us, sustaining us, leading us and for giving us the gift of salvation. May You impart in us Your fruit and gifts, and empower us with grace and strength so that we may do exploits. May You increase in us wisdom and faith and teach us to fully rely on You. May love for You and our neighbors never fade in our hearts. May You bless us Lord and keep us. May You make Your face to shine upon us and be gracious unto us. May You turn Your countenance upon us and grant us peace. Amen

Blessed Weekend
