2 Samuel 24:24-25

Then the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that which costs me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord heeded the prayers for the land, and the plague was withdrawn from Israel.

INSIGHT
-The peace offering was vital for the people of Israel as instructed by God. It was offered by the priest as stipulated in Leviticus 3 where an animal without blemish was offered to the Lord. Blood was smeared on the altar and the sacrifice produced a pleasing aroma to God. This was to be repeated from generation to generation as a perpetual covenant between God and the people. When king David took a census of the people of Israel and Judah against Gods’ will, a plague befell them. Seventy thousand men fell and when the plague persisted; king David offered a peace offering to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah. God was merciful to them and delivered them from destruction. Christ became for us a sacrifice of peace reconciling us to the Father once and for all; through His precious blood. We are therefore called to walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and gave Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma (Eph 5:2).

PRAYER
Thank You Jesus for this far that You have brought us. It is because of Your mercy and grace, we give You all the glory and praise. We are nothing without You Holy Spirit and we can do nothing without You, dwell deeper in our hearts we humbly implore You. For the many times we have gone against Your will, forgive us merciful Father. Guide us throughout the week and make all our plans succeed according to Your divine purposes. Straighted every crooked path and deliver us from all wicked plan of the evil one. Protect us, provide for us, heal us, restore us and guide us together with our loved ones Almighty Father for Your love for us endures to all generations. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forevermore. Amen
