Genesis 41:46

Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.

INSIGHT
-Presence in Hebrew is written as panim & it means appear, manifest, arrive, ubiety & existence.
-The Lord revealed to Joseph Pharaoh’s dream which brought out his leadership skills & talents at age 30 which can be defined as his appointed time. Age 30 is very significant in the Bible for its when priests could serve in the tabernacle of meeting (Num 4:3), Ezekiel was called by God (Ezek 1:1), David became king (2 Sam 5:4), Jesus started His ministry (Luke 3:23) etc. Some of us have reached their point of prosperity & others are still on their way to success. To some; getting there has been difficult like Joseph who faced many challenges like, being thrown into a pit, sold as a slave & imprisoned before he could mature to stand before Pharaoh & the Egyptians. The majority don’t want to see the struggle that one has endured but only associate with ones success without looking at the process. With prayer & perseverance; Joseph was able to conquer these challenges before he became second in command in a foreign land. In the same way; we are reminded to thank God in our current situations, praise His name for the far He has brought us & trust that He is present in our journey to success for in all these things we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.

PRAYER
Lord our Father we come before Your holy presence in humility asking for Your mercy. Have mercy on us & on the whole world; Lord & forgive us all our sins. You have called us to be fruitful, to multiply, fill the earth & subdue it, direct us in Your purpose for our lives. You have said that we are more than conquerors in all things Jesus, cover us, our families, neighbors, friends, leaders, president & nation with Your blood, & journey with us so that we may attain that which You have promised. Fill us with wisdom, knowledge & understanding as You prepare us to bear much fruit. We thank You, praise You & worship You in all things. Amen

Exodus 33:13-14

Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.” And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

INSIGHT
-After the Israelites were delivered from Egypt, God instructed them to go to the promised land but vowed not to go with them because of their hard heartedness. Moses then pleaded with God to go with them knowing very well that without God they would not make it to Canaan. God is our protector & guide, & without Him we can do nothing. May we consult Him & give Him pre-eminence in all our plans so that He may establish our steps.

PRAYER
All we are Lord is because of Your grace. We are sorry for the many times we have gone against Your will & have acted without consulting You Father. Consider Lord that we Kenyans are Your people, show us Your way that we may know You more & may we find grace in Your sight. Be present with all of us today & in all our lives, protect us from harm & give us peace. All glory, honor, power & strength belong to You forever & ever. Amen

Psalm 95:1-3

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, And the great King above all gods.

INSIGHT
-The psalmist reminds us to glorify God with shouts of praise. The phrases Rock of our salvation & King above all gods have been used to bring to us a realisation of idolatry. In this regard; we should query the source of our salvation, is it God, money, power, witchcraft, leaders or what exactly do we prioritise in our lives? In Job 36:22-24, we are told that God’s power is not limited by anything. He needs no teachers to guide or correct him. Others have praised God for what He has done, so let’s join with them.

PRAYER
You are holy Lord King of all glory. We thank You & magnify Your holy name for You are the Rock of our salvation. All power & authority belong to You, King & God above all gods. We are sorry for the many times we have relied on ourselves, money, other gods or any form of idolatry either knowingly or unknowingly, instead of totally relying on You. Forgive us, our families, friends, leaders, fellow country men & the whole world, for idolatry & any other wrong doing. We praise You for Who You are & what You have done in our lives, families & nation. You are the worthy of all praise & adoration now & forever. Amen

Philippians 2:12-13

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

INSIGHT
-Apostle Paul was addressing the Philippians who were obedient in the presence & absence of onlookers. God speaks to us the same message that we should work out our own salvation in obedience to His word not to please others but to be made complete by Christ Who dwells in us. We all know that no one can bring salvation upon Himself but only through Christ who died for our sins; lest anyone boasts for saving himself. Christ therefore calls anyone who is willing; to follow Him with obedience so that each one may do His will through His grace that is sufficient for us all.

PRAYER
Our faithful Father, we humbly beseech You to have mercy on us & to train us in obedience to Your word. Fill us with Your love Holy Spirit; that we may fear God & always do His will. May Your grace abound in our hearts Father; to strengthen us when we are weak. Direct all students in their studies & exams that they may have success, bless the work of our hands that we may bear much fruit, help all those who are jobless & unmarried that they may see Your face in their petitions, fill all the priests & preacher; Holy Spirit that they may only share Truth, heal all the sick in hospitals & at home by Your blood; Jesus, bring back those who are lost to Your kingdom & heal the wounds of all those who are sad & heart broken that they may find joy. May Your peace that surpasses all understanding dwell in our hearts always. Amen

John 14:15-16

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.

INSIGHT
-Jesus assures us that the Holy Spirit will always be present in us if we love Him & keep His commandments. This brings a sense of comfort that God the Holy Spirit is always present in us to help us in all things. By seeking first Gods’ kingdom & His righteousness we access all things. He gives us the fruit of love which enables us to keep His word through grace.

SUMMARY
-Presence in Hebrew is written as panim & it means appear, manifest, ubiety & existence.
-Joseph went through many challenges in his life for he was thrown into a pit, sold as a slave & imprisoned; before his presence was felt in Egypt. At age 30, God revealed to him Pharaoh’s dream which elevated him to governorship (Gen 41:46). Age 30 is very significant in the Bible for its when priests could serve in the tabernacle of meeting (Num 4:3), Ezekiel was called by God (Ezek 1:1), David became king (2 Sam 5:4), Jesus started His ministry (Luke 3:23) etc. Through prayer & perseverance; Joseph was able to conquer these challenges. Moses also knew the importance of walking with God through experience. When God said to the Israelites that His presence would not go with them to Canaan because of their hard heartedness, Moses pleaded with God & He promised to accompany them to Canaan, show them grace & give them rest (Exo 33:13-14). Gods’ presence was also felt through the Ark of the covenant in the Old Testament & was often kept in the temple. Christ calls us to consult Him first; by giving Him pre-eminence in all our plans so that He may establish our steps. In Psa 95:1-3 we are also reminded to glorify God with thanksgiving & shouts of praise for He is the Rock of our salvation & King above all gods. Some people do not recognise God & have idolised money, power, witchcraft, leaders etc. Apostle Paul paints a picture of fear of God when he applauded Philippians for their unyielding obedience (Phil 2:12-13). God speaks to us the same message that we should work out our own salvation in obedience to His word not to please people but to be made whole by Christ Who dwells in us. Christ therefore calls anyone who is willing; to follow Him with obedience so that each one may do His will through His grace that is sufficient for us all. Through the same grace we are more than conquerors in Christ. For this reason; we give thanks to God in our current situations, praise His name for the far He has brought us & trust that He is always present in our journey of success.

PRAYER
Almighty & ever living God, we thank You for everything You have done & You are still doing in our lives, families & society. Look kindly upon us Your sons & grant us peace & love. Your presence is all we desire, help us Lord to prioritize you in all our thoughts, plans & dealing. May everything in us, our families, our leaders & nation that raises itself against Your knowledge be brought to captivity in Your obedience. Cover us with Your precious blood that we may be made righteous. You are the Rock of our salvation & King above all gods, we praise You & worship You now & forever. Amen
