“And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day. Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us.’’
-The fear of the Lord means to respect, obey, submit to God, to keep His commandments, to love God & our neighbours & to live by the Spirit which leads to life. The fear of the Lord has been sited countless times in the Bible including; with the fear of the Lord comes wisdom (Prov 1:7; Prov 2:1; Prov 9:10; Job 28:28), fear of the Lord is a catalyst of provision, blessings, riches & honor to one & his descendants (2 Chr 17:10; Ps 33:18-19; Ps 31:19; Isa 33:6; Prov 14:26-27; ), it results to direction from God (Ps 112:1-3; Ps 25:12-14; Ps 111:5; Ps 115:13-14), leads to Gods’ protection but destruction will befall the wicked (Ps 145:19-20; Ps 34:7-9; Prov 28:14; Ecc 7:18; Ecc 8:12; Rev 11:18), it yields Gods’ mercy (Ps 103:11; Lk 1:50), it is a Spirit of the Lord (Isa 11:1-2), it should be taught in churches (Acts 9:31), it secures one to sonship & eternal life (Mal 3:16-17).
-The law was given to us through Moses, & grace & truth came through Jesus Christ, for through His grace we are made righteous; & are able to keep the law which He has written into our hearts & minds. We are called to set our minds & hearts to the fear the Lord & not on our former lusts in ignorance but to fear sin; & live by Gods’ grace through faith. Since we are all sons of God through faith in Christ (Gal 3:26), we are called to be holy for our Father is holy, & to love God & our neighbors for love is the fulfillment of the law (Rom 13:10).
We thank You Father for we have began the week healthy & strong, be glorified to the ends of the world. You have said in Your word Lord that You will fulfill the desires of those who fear You; that You will hear our cry; to save & preserves us in Your love; we trust in You Jesus. Be merciful unto us Oh Lord, forgive us our sins & give us the grace to seek first Your kingdom & Your righteousness. The world & it’s lusts will pass away Lord but those who do Your will live forever; we believe, strengthen us Jesus to dwell in Your love now & forever. Amen
2 Chronicles 17:10
“And the fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.”
-Unlike his father Asa who ceased to worship God & sought the efforts of his allies in battle, king Jehoshaphat feared the Lord & worship Him alone. Through priests & levites, he taught the law of the Lord throughout the nation of Judah & the fear of the Lord fell upon the neighboring countries who desisted from waging war against him but brought him peace, riches & honor; just like king Solomon. When king Asa gave the treasures in the house of the Lord & the king’s house to the king of Syria; king Jehoshaphat received treasures from the people & other nations, & when king Asa sought his own wisdom in war; king Jehoshaphat consulted God Who fought for him. King Asa then got ill & died a miserable death. The Lord says that He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; hear their cry; save them & preserves all those who love Him, but He will destroy all the wicked (Ps 145:19-20). Everyone desires to be successful but most people do not want to consider the process of getting there; which is through the fear of the Lord. The Lord says that He alone can gives us the ability to get wealth (Deu 8:18); therefore we should focus on Him & not the wealth; for true riches are found in His grace; for He was rich yet became poor so that we may also become rich (2 Cor 8:9).
Your eyes Lord run to & fro throughout the whole earth, to show Yourself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to You; have mercy on us. Deliver us, our leaders, churches, societies & the nation from the love of money Father; which is root of all evil & help us to rely on Your blessings. Be gracious unto us & our descendants Lord that You may bless us, expand our territories, fulfill the desires of our hearts & give us peace; according Your abundant mercy & according to Your great love. Help us to place our focus on You & put our trust in You in all things Jesus. All glory, honor, blessings, riches, power, praise & strength belong to You Jesus; now & forever. Amen
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
-After the fall of man, God gave us freedom to either choose good or evil with specific conditions for our decisions. God desires that the whole human race walks in His fear; that is wisdom & shun from evil in understanding (Job 28:28). Through the death & resurrection of Christ, we who believe in Him have received the Holy Spirit in our hearts to direct us in the things of the spirit which oppose the things of the flesh for they drift us away from God. We are therefore called to walk by the spirit & shun fleshly lusts like gluttony, envy, pride, theft, adultery, lying, murder, coveting, jealousy & all evil; & pursue the things of the spirit like prayer, worship, evangelism, acts of love, peace & good works in Christlikeness. The Holy Spirit imparts in us His fruit & gifts; & a teachable heart so that we may walk according to His will & submit to Him; for His thoughts are not our thoughts neither are His ways our ways (Isa 55:8).
Your mercies are new every morning Lord we give You all the glory & praise. We thank You Father for everything You have done unto us & this far You have brought us. We cast all our burdens unto You Lord; heal & restore us morally, physically, emotionally, psychologically, economically, financially & socially for by Your stripes we were healed. You have been faithful unto us Jesus; You have protected us, provided for us, sustained us, directed us, healed us, redeemed us, strengthen us & loved us with Your unfailing love, we love You Lord. Fill us with the gift of wisdom & understanding; Holy Spirit we humbly ask You so that we may comprehend & do according to Your will. Amen
“A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord”
-Jesus Christ came in the nature of the flesh & was filled with the Holy Spirit according to the prophecy of prophet Isaac to condemn sin in the flesh. Filled with the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the fear of the Lord; Spirit of wisdom; Spirit of understanding; Spirit of counsel; Spirit of might & the Spirit of knowledge, were imparted unto Him to enable Him complete His assignment. The Spirit of wisdom & understanding point to moral victory & spiritual inclination to faith in God; Spirit of counsel & might give sound direction & vigour to follow wisdom of the Father; while Spirit of knowledge & fear of the Lord relate to God founded love & reverential awe to obedience. God introduced the law of the Spirit through His Son Jesus in love so that we may walk by the Spirit in total dependency on Him, for we are not in the flesh but in the spirit for the Spirit of God dwells in us (Rom 8:9).
We extol You Lord our Father for You are worthy of all victory, You are awesome in creative power & full of goodness & mercy, may Your praise be always be on our lips. We give You all the glory & the honor Lord; let the afflicted hear & rejoice. Breath into our hearts Holy Spirit & fill us with the Spirit of Your fear, Spirit of wisdom; Spirit of understanding; Spirit of counsel; Spirit of might & the Spirit of knowledge & the fire of Your love, that we may accomplish all that You have created us for. You are worthy to receive our praise & adoration Father, be exulted in all the earth. Amen
“Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.”
-Before His ascension to heaven; Jesus commissioned the disciples to proclaim the gospel in Judea, Samaria, Galilee & all over the world, where the church remained strong in faith, peace & the fear of the Lord. Through the help of the Holy Spirit; the congregants were strengthened & encouraged, the church increased in number & performed many signs & wonders. Churches are therefore encouraged to only teach the true doctrine & the fear of the Lord & not prosperity gospel which excites the congregants, who often get tired of waiting on God; become frustrated & leave the faith.
The fear of the Lord is a Spirit given to us by the Holy Spirit. Through the help of the Holy Spirit we are strengthened to fear sin, walk in obedience to God & lead our lives in love for God & our neighbors. God has called us to choose life in our decisions so that we & our children may live, love, listen to His voice & hold fast to Him, so that His promises may bear fruit in our lives (Deut 30:19-20). When we set our hearts to fear Him; God gives us wisdom, understanding & the humility to follow His word through grace. In 1 Corinthians 1:25 we read that; the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom & the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. God knows everything, He sees everyone & owns the heavens & the earth. We are called to put God first & submit our thoughts, intentions, lives, work, businesses, marriages, relationships, families, leadership, nation & every other thing to Him so that He may lead us in all things. It is through the fear of the Lord that an increase in wisdom, humility, obedience, provision, blessings, riches, honor, direction, protection, life, gifts, fruit, faith & love can be achieved, for we are all His sons through faith in Him.
God our Father we thank You & glorify You for every thing that You have done unto us. Give us wise & understanding hearts so that we may submit to Your will. Be with all the priests, pastors, teachers, prophets & all religious leaders Lord so that they may only proclaim Your true gospel. We submit our hearts, intentions, decisions, families, work, businesses, finances, relationships, marriages, churches, economy, leadership, nation & all other things to You; be at the centre of our lives Father & give us rest according to Your promise. May Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard our hearts & minds forever; in You our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
