1 John 1:6-10
“If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.”
INSIGHT
-The blood of Jesus forms a strong foundation for us Christians. One of its functions is purification and cleansing from sin. God is Light and in Him; there is no darkness. If we walk in the light we realize His true nature and acknowledge Him as our source. According to today’s reading, we are all sinners and if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. This is a statement of humility and when we humble ourselves before Him, He will lift us up. We are then called to confess our sins for God is faithful to wash us with His precious blood and purify us from all unrighteousness. Since the blood of Jesus speaks better things than that of Abel, He calls us to Him when we sin and since He is our Advocate, He represents us every time; even when we are weak. If we abide in Jesus, we should walk just as He walked. Since He walked in love to the end, we are called to walk with love and darkness will never be found in us. For whoever says that he is the light but hates his brother he is in the darkness. If God is righteous, everyone that does right is from Him, for in Him there is no darkness. If we abide in Him we should not sin, as everyone who does right is righteousness. For the Son of God has been revealed to destroy the works of the devil. We should therefore love another unlike Cain who killed his brother when he did what was right. If we do not love, we abide in death and the truth is not in us. If we have passed from death to life, we should love one another. Jesus laid His life for us that we should love one another. Let us then not love one another in word or speech but in truth and action. If we are of truth, we should then live in truth and obey His commandments, and do what pleases Him. Whenever our hearts condemn us we secure ourselves in the love of God, for we are from the truth, and God is greater than our hearts and knows everything. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1). If we walk in the Spirit, we abide in Him, and obey His commandments which is a call to love Him and one another. God is love and He gave us His Son because of love and we should never shy away from seeking His forgiveness for His blood was shed for our sins. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).
PRAYER
Merciful God we come before You this morning asking for Your mercy. Forgive us from all our sins Jesus and wash us with Your precious blood. Though our sins are as red as crimsons wash us and make them as white as snow. Thank You Jesus for dying on the cross for our sins and making us Your children so that we may call You Abba Father. Deliver us from all forms of lawlessness and remove all guilt from our hearts. Help us to always walk according to the Spirit and never according to the flesh for we belong to You. We are children of light, help us to abide in You always as You are in us. We have been born of You Lord and we are Your children, forgive us our sins, sins of our forefathers, sins of our family members, sins of our nation and of the whole world, and deliver us from our troubles. When we were still sinners, Jesus You died for us. Thank You for redeeming us. Any wicked plan fashioned against us is defeated in You name Jesus. We are more than conquerors in You Jesus, fight for us our battles, for the battle belongs to You. Without You we are nothing and we cannot bear any fruit without Your help. Take charge of our lives and situations Jehovah. We surrender our lives to You Lord, take charge of our lives, families and nation. We come to Your throne of grace Jesus that we may obtain mercy and grace to help us in times of need, help us dear Jesus. You are our Christ, our Christ the King, our Lord of lord’s and salvation of the world. Make all our plans succeed for we are Yours and belong to You. Help us to love You and our neighbors as ourselves for without love we walk in darkness. May Your light always shine in us so that it may be a true reflection of Your love for those who see us. May Your love reach all the people and nations and especially those who have been neglected and desperately need You. May Your saving grace always be with us and all Your people, now and forever. All glory, honor, power and praise belongs to You Lord, now and forever. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love is God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forever more. Amen
Exodus 12:12-14
“‘For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. ‘So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.”
INSIGHT
-After nine devastating plagues in Egypt, Pharaoh still refused to let the Israelites go. God sent the last plague that pronounced judgement against all the first born in the land of Egypt. God instructed the Israelites to smear the blood of lambs on their door frames and door posts such that when the angel of death passed, they would not suffer loss. God promised to protect them but not without blood. When the angel of death saw the blood on their doors, he passed over. Since God had a covenant with Abraham, an everlasting pact to bless him and all his generations, He had to stand by His covenant. Job was faithful to God; and He put a hedge over his life, his family and all he had. It was only when God removed the hedge around Job and all he had that the devil was able to touch him. The blood of Jesus provides divine protection upon us, our families, all we have, our entire households, our churches, society, nation and entire world. When we were without Christ, aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world, Jesus brought us near when we were far off by His blood (Ephesians 2:12-13). We can confidently dwell in the peace of Christ as we partake of His covenants with us through faith in Him. We are then protected by the blood of the Lamb and nothing can harm us. If God is for us who can be against us. We are then called to plead the blood of Jesus over the whole world, for only in Him do we dwell in peace and safety.
PRAYER
Holy and Everlasting Father we thank You for You are good and Your mercies endures forever. Thank You for this far that You have brought us. Thank You for You the good plans You have for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope a future. Thank You for Your blood upon us. We plead Your blood Jesus over the door posts of our hearts, our lives, families, possessions, future, society, churches, nation and the entire world. May Your blood prevail that we may be free from all oppression, sicknesses, curses, anxiety, depression, losses, captivity but dwell in sure peace and prosperity. Cover us with Your hedge of fire Holy Spirit for You are with us and in us and nothing can harm us. Nothing can separate us from Your love. Thank You for loving us, thank You for saving us, thank You for protecting us, thank You for healing us, thank You for Your precious blood. If You are with us God; who can be against us. Make all our plans succeed according to the riches of Your glory. We thank You Lamb of God and give You all the glory and praise. Amen
Isaiah 53:4-5
“Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
INSIGHT
-Jesus was despised and bore shame for our sicknesses, mental distress, worry, troubles, fears, physical, psychological and emotional pain, demonic captivity and by His stripes we are healed. The blood of Jesus provides healing power for our souls. Jesus became a curse as we read cursed is the one that hang on a tree, and we are now free because the Son of Man set us free. If you need healing now, the blood of Jesus is free to set you free from all your diseases, pains, anxieties and troubles. We don’t need to rely to much on physicians but to trust in God for healing. The woman with the issue of blood suffered for twelve years in the hands of different physicians, but with a single touch of Jesus garment, she drew power from Him and received her healing (Luke 8:43-48). The doctors might have given you a bad report but with a single touch, the blood of Jesus has power to heal you from all diseases however catastrophic. Jesus also drove out legion in the region of Gerasenes from a man who was tormented and lived in caves. The demons begged Jesus not to send them out of the area and He drove them into a herd of pigs which drowned and died (Mark 5:1-13). Jesus has power to deliver us from all forms of captivity and psychological torment and set us free. Jesus also performed many signs and He calls us to have faith in Him. The blood of Jesus has power to cure us from any kind of physical and emotional diseases, and whoever the Son of Man sets free, he is free indeed.
PRAYER
I sought the Lord and He answered me, and delivered me from all my troubles. Thank You Jesus for Your blood, Your blood that has power over all diseases, curses and tribulations. Set us free Jesus from all forms of captivity and heal all our wounds. Thank You Jesus for Your blood and by Your stripes we are healed. Heal all those who are sick and suffering and set them free Jesus. Deliver all those who live in the streets and lack a sure way of livelihood. Like You healed the demon possessed man, heal all those who are under captivity of the evil one Jesus. Have mercy on all those who are controlled by habitual sins that occur like thorns in the flesh and set them free. Grant all our leaders wisdom and bless our churches. Heal our nation from corruption and revive our economy. Deliver our nation from COVID-19 and all the nations of the world. Set us all free Jesus and sprinkle Your precious blood over all our cells and we will be free indeed. Thank You Jesus for Your saving grace upon our lives, families and nation. We put all our trust in You Jesus, set us free. Wash us with Your precious blood Jesus and make us whole. Increase our faith in You Jesus, may the same faith bear much fruit now and forever. Fill all Your people with the gift of salvation Lord. Let all people know You and praise You in spirit and in truth. May Your peace that surpasses all understanding dwell in our hearts and minds through You Christ Jesus, now and forever. Amen
Luke 22:19-20
“And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.”
INSIGHT
-The blood of Jesus provides communion with God in a new covenant through His blood; in remembrance of Him. His blood is drink indeed and His body is food indeed, those who partake of it have eternal life. We are then called to partake of the holy communion as we abide in Christ and He in us, and He will raise us up in the last day (John 6:54-56). We are called to confess our sins before we enter discerning that the Lord’s body is holy, since if we eat and drink in an unworthy manner; we pronounce judgement upon ourselves. For this reason many are sick and others sleep. Through the same blood of Jesus, we can boldly enter the Most Holy Place with confidence by a new and living way which He consecrated us (Hebrews 10:19-20). Through this we have boldness and confidence as we approach God with our prayers and worship, because we are no longer far away from Him. Since we were once far off and have been drawn closer to Him by His precious blood.
PRAYER
Jesus You are good and Your mercies endures forever. Thank You Jesus for Your blood and the sacrifice that You made for us on the cross. You have been faithful to us even when we have become faithless, we praise You and glorify Your holy name. We come boldly to Your throne of grace so that we may obtain mercy and grace to help us at our time of need. Have mercy on us Jesus and hear our prayers from the deepest parts of our hearts. Teach us how to partake of Your body and blood in our churches even in our homes with our families, so that we may abide in You as You are in us. We are kings and priests to You Lord, grant us wisdom as we rule on earth. Thank You for granting us eternal life Jesus, all our hope and trust is in You. Save us, our families, leaders, churches, nation and entire world with Your saving grace we humbly ask You loving Master. Write all our names in the book of life and help us to seek Your face now and forever. All our hope and trust is in Your Jesus, grant us favor in all things. Our Father who art in heaven; hallowed be Your name; Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptations but deliver us from evil; for thine is the Kingdom the power and the glory; forever and ever. Amen
Revelation 12:11
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”
INSIGHT
-As Christians, we have obtained victory over the enemy through the blood of Jesus. Jesus suffered, died and was buried for our sake, and resurrected on the third day, and sits at the right hand of God the Father in glory. By faith in the One who was clothed with a robe dipped in blood; who is the Word of God, we have sure victory in all things through Christ Jesus. Our confidence in the blood of Jesus causes us a great reward, that can never be taken away. Further, having the Holy Spirit living within us we possess eternal life knowing that even if we sleep He will raise us up from the dead on the last day.
SUMMARY
The power of the blood of Jesus has provided everything we need to live in victory, as we are co-heirs with Christ. It forms a strong foundation in us knowing that the blood of Jesus conquers all through a new covenant between us and God. The blood of rams was used in the Old Testament for atonement of the sins of mankind occasioned by the fall of man. Through God’s love, Jesus offered a better sacrifice once and for the sins of all mankind, and if God is righteous; we should also do what is right. The blood of Jesus washes us from all our sins and frees us from the curse of law so that the blessing of Abraham may come upon us in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:13). Christ offered Himself as a better sacrifice once and for all, for our redemption. The curse of sin, death, sicknesses, disease, poverty, lack, depression was defeated on the cross by the death and resurrection of Christ. He took the keys of death and Hades and if we believe in Christ and proclaim the power of His precious blood, we live in liberty as His children. We should then hope in seeing Christ as He is in the last day which causes in us justification through faith. If we know that we are not only justified through faith, we should put in works for faith without work is dead. We should therefore love, not in words and speech but in truth. We should then obey God’s commandments which is a call to believe in His Son Jesus Christ, and to love one another as own ourselves. Through the blood of Jesus, we also have confidence to enter the throne of grace where we find mercy and grace to help us during times of need. Therefore, the blood of Jesus offers us redemption from our sins, fellowship with God, healing from all diseases since by His stripes are healed, protection from all danger and authority over the devil. Through the blood of Jesus, we then have victory over all things and as we partake of His body and blood, we have life everlasting with Him.
