Isaiah 43:18-21 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall... A NEW THING

Isaiah 43:18-21

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. The beast of the field will honor Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I give waters in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen. This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.”

INSIGHT

-The word of God contains promises, principles and prophecies that give us hope for a better future. It is through the revelations of prophet Isaiah that the Lord discloses His good plans for the people of Israel after the Babylonian captivity. He promises to form new roadways or paths in the wilderness for the people to walk through. This is similar to the guidance that the Lord offered them by providing a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, after the Egyptian captivity. This was God’s way of offering direction and protection for His people. He also promises to make rivers in the desert to water His people. Given the harsh climatic conditions in that part of the world, the Lord provided water to sustain them. A similar encounter was experienced through Moses when the Lord provided water from a rock and also made bitter water sweet for His chosen people to enjoy. But before doing this new thing, the Lord instructs the Israelites to forget the former things. The former things have a way of hindering new blessings, new impartations and a new way of life. The principle in these scriptures is that, we need to forget the former things so that we may access the true riches of the glory of God. The promise is that God is doing a new thing for us in this year 2021 which has been rooted from the prophecy through prophet Isaiah. Let us then trust in the Lord with all our hearts and learn not on our own understanding, and in all our ways acknowledge Him and He will make every crooked path straight. The Lord has formed us for Himself and He is our Shield and our very great Reward (Genesis 15:1). Let us put all our hope and trust in the Lord and He will make a way for us where there seem to be no way, and propel us from one glory to the next.

PRAYER

We sing to You Lord a new song, for You have done and are doing marvelous things in our lives, families, churches, schools, businesses, work places, government, nation and the entire world in this year 2021. Your right hand and  holy arm have worked salvation for us, we praise You and glorify Your holy name. You have made Your salvation known and revealed Your righteousness to all the nations, we worship and bless Your holy name. You have remembered Your love and faithfulness to Israel and to all the ends of the earth, we proclaim Your salvation and sing Your praises every day. You have formed us for Yourself. You are our Shield and our very great Reward, thank You for choosing us. We shout to You for joy glorious Father, and all the earth bursts into jubilant song with music for Your great love. All the people, beast of the field, birds of the air, jackals and ostriches, honor You only Lord of hosts. All the mountains and trees sing praises to You Almighty Father. All the earth worships You Jesus in glory and splendor, for every knee shall bow in heaven, on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus You are Lord to the glory of the Father. All glory and praise belongs to You Jesus now and forever. We humbly ask You Jesus to forgive us all our sins and cover us with Your precious blood. Sustain all those who are sick and restore them from their beds of illness, merciful Jesus. Protect all our children including all those who go to school dear Jesus from all kinds of diseases and harm. Provide a way for marriages and reconciliation for all broken marriages dear Jesus. Provide a way for provision and acceleration this year 2021. Provide a way for us in the wilderness and answer all our prayers and hearts desires. Provide for us water in the dessert and make a way for us to prosper even where there seems to be no way. If you were not with us Lord where would we be. Thank You for this far that You have brought us and the far that You are taking us. Thank You for loving us dear Jesus. All glory, honor, power and blessings belongs to You; now and forever. Amen

Ephesians 4:22-24

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

INSIGHT

-It is through Lucifer the deceiver that sin came into the world. Confronted by the realities that Jesus Christ existed before the creation of the world as God the Son, perfect in nature and without sin, Lucifer could not submit to Him and rebelled. His pride could not allow him to serve Jesus Christ since he was the most anointed cherub, and on him were all kinds of precious stones. Confronted by the realities of an everlasting Father whose mercies endures forever transcending to reach mankind, his pride could not allow him to seek for God’s mercy and His divine will. Him and his angels rebelled in an attempted coup and he thrown down to earth and reduced to ashes (Ezekiel 28:12-18, Revelation 12:7-9). It is through such pride that sin formed into the heart of man. 1 John 3:8-9, reveals that “The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.” God desires to do a new thing in our lives but we need forget our former evil nature, to put off our former self and put on our new self created by God in true righteousness and holiness. God desires to transform us by the renewing of our minds that we may be able to test and approve His good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2).God requires us to put to death whatever belongs to the earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry, for because of these, the wrath of God is coming (Colossians 3:5-6). To also rid ourselves from all malice and deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind, but to crave pure spiritual milk like newborn babies, so that by it we may grow up in salvation (1 Peter 2:1-2). The devil brings forth evil desires that draws us back from the will of God, which is true holiness and righteousness. Let us ask God therefore to give us undivided hearts and put a new spirit in us. To remove our hearts of stone and give us hearts of flesh that we may follow His decrees for we are His people and He; our God (Ezekiel 11:19-20). It is through God’s great love that He gave us His Only begotten Son that we may believe in Him and submit to His authority, that we may find abundant life.

PRAYER

We love You Lord, thank You for loving us first. We humbly come at Your feet Jesus asking for mercy and grace. We are sorry for the many times we have grieved You Holy Spirit, forgive us and give us undivided hearts. Take over our minds, emotions and will and lead us in the paths of righteousness. Take over all that we have and all that we are. May Your will be done on earth as it s in heaven. May Your will be done in our lives as it is in heaven. Help us to focus on You alone Jesus and seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness. Deliver us, our family members, colleagues, leaders and nation from all forms of pride, impurity and evil desires, and grant us the grace to follow You wholeheartedly dear Jesus. Grant us all the gift of salvation dear Jesus. Grant us the grace to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Create in us clean hearts Oh Lord and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Cast us not away from Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from us. Restore unto us the joy of Your salvation, and uphold us with Your generous spirit. May Your generous spirit overtake us and heal us all; emotionally, mentally, psychologically, physically, financially, economically and spiritually. Make us whole dear Jesus. Fill our hearts with Your true holiness and righteousness. Anoint us afresh Holy Spirit with Your wisdom and the fear of You. We call unto You today Lord, answer us and show us great and unsearchable things which we do not know. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit; be with us now and forevermore.  Amen

Psalms 40:3

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.”

INSIGHT

-The evidence that God is doing a new thing in our lives is the presence of a new song in our mouths. It is a cause for celebration and jubilation. The Lord tells us to rejoice always, which is a statement of faith as we enter into new levels of grace and move from one glory to the next. Despite the challenges that seem like mountains before our eyes, let us rejoice in the Lord always for He is leveling the mountains for us. Even when we are down-cast and feel inadequate, let us give thanks to the Lord for when we are weak; then we are strong, because the Holy Spirit dwells in us. Therefore, let the poor say, I am rich, let the weak say I am strong. For the Lord is our strength and shield; let us put all our trust in Him. Let our heart greatly rejoice, and sing songs of praise to Him (Psalms 28:7). Like Hannah who was low spirited when she prayed for a son for she barren, and worshipped the Lord after Eli’s prayer for favor upon her (1 Samuel 15-19), let us put all our trust in the Lord. Like the man who suffered infirmity for thirty eight years; lay by the pool of Bethesda but remained hopeful for a miracle (John 5:2-9), let us not loose hope, for the Lord is surely doing a new thing in our lives. Let us see the new thing that the Lord is doing into our lives and sing a new song to Him.

PRAYER

We sing to You LORD a new song. We sing to You, in all the earth. We appreciate You LORD for who You are and what You have done unto us. Our hearts desire to know You more. Reveal Yourself unto us more vividly Jesus and increase our faith. May Your power be evidenced in our lives and teach us to do Your will. We sing to You LORD and bless Your holy name. We proclaim Your goodness and salvation from day to day. We declare Your glory among all the nations, Your wonders among all the people, for You LORD are great and greatly to be praised. Only You are to be feared above all gods. All the gods are idols, only You are worthy of our adoration and praise. Many among us are sick and suffering, we seek Your divine intervention Jesus, heal them completely like You healed the man at the pool of Bethesda, we humbly beseech You. Others are jobless and lack direction of purpose, direct them with Your eye Father. We seek Your help Jesus in our businesses, open many doors of opportunities for us and guide us in the way we should go. Grant us new ideas and align our visions according to Your divine will. Some among us are barren and lack children, remember them dear Master like You remembered Hannah and may they find favor in Your eyes. Many of us are unmarried Jesus, take over our lives, spouses, children, grand children and future we humbly implore You. Take over our future and make our joy complete. Take over our churches and government dear Jesus. We cast all our burdens and cares unto You Jesus for You care for us, open supernatural doors for us Your children Father. Enlighten us spiritually Holy Spirit and increase our faith. Teach us how to tap into Your supernatural and we shall do exploits for the glory of Your name. Only You LORD made the heavens and the earth, honor and majesty are before You. Strength and beauty are in Your sanctuary. We give to You LORD glory and strength. We give to You LORD glory due Your name. We present our offering of praise as we come into Your courts Father. We worship You in the beauty of Your holiness and make joyful songs in our hearts. We tremble before You with all the earth. Only You LORD reigns. The world is firmly established, it shall not be moved. You shall judge the people righteously, let the heavens rejoice, and earth be glad. Let the sea roar, and all its fullness. Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the LORD. For You are coming, for You are coming to judge the world with righteousness and all the people with truth. Let all creation rejoice in You Jesus. All our hope and trust is in You, now and forever. Amen

Revelation 21:1-5

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.””

INSIGHT

-A comparison has been drawn between the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. The above scriptures delineate the main features of the kingdom of light that is encompassed in the New Jerusalem, set to be revealed after the second coming of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. According to the scriptures, the New Jerusalem will come down from heaven to replace the former earth, as a new heaven is formed. Jesus will take away every pain and sorrow. There will be no more crying nor weeping, and no more death for the former things will pass away. There will neither be hunger nor thirst, the sun shall not strike, nor will there be heat (Revelation 7:16-17, Isaiah 65:17-19). On the flip side, the kingdom of darkness will encompass weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 8:12). Jesus is the light of world and in Him there is no darkness. There will be no need for the sun or the moon for Jesus will be the only source of light. He is the way, the truth and the life, and no one come to the Father but through Him (John 14:6). It is therefore vital to give prominence to His word and His will, to accept Him in our lives and believe in Him, and we will dwell with Him forever and ever with Him. Let us ask the Lord to do a new thing to those who do not know Him and give them the gift of salvation. As believers this is our hope. We look forward to His promise where we will dwell in His righteousness forever (2 Peter 3:13).

PRAYER

Almighty and Everlasting Father we come to Your holy presence thanking You for Your goodness and mercy upon our lives. May Your goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in Your house forever. You have been good to us Jesus, we bless Your holy name. Do a new thing in our lives, families and nation we humbly implore You. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne Jesus; love and faithfulness go before You. You are the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, all glory and praise belongs to You Jesus. You are the Lion of Judah, the King of kings and the Lord of lord, all honor and adoration belongs to You Jesus. The new heavens and the new earth shall be an everlasting Kingdom and it shall remain before You Jesus. Welcome us into Your kingdom, together with our families, friends and the entire world when You come again Jesus. May Your salvation reach the ends of the earth, let all Your people believe in You Jesus. You are the way, the truth and the life, let all Your people follow Your Word. You are the Door to everlasting Jesus, grant unto all nations and all people the gift of salvation. Give us the grace merciful Father to follow the narrow path that leads to life and help us to keep our faith in You. You are the Light of world, grant us the grace to see You as You are and to know You more. All glory, honor and praise belongs to You Jesus Christ, now and forever. Amen

1 Kings 17:11-14

“And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” So she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.”

INSIGHT

-The Lord did a new thing for the widow of Zarephath. The brook of Kerith Ravine dried up, where Elijah was supernaturally fed by ravens and the Lord sent him to the widow of Zarephath. Ironically, she had a handful of floor and a little oil which could only be enough for one meal. She had lost faith and reported that once her and her son eat, they would die. At Elijah’s request she prepared a meal for him first and her jar of floor and jug of oil never run dry. Despite her desperate situation, she gathered courage within herself and had faith, and the Lord restored her. It is a time that the Lord is doing a new thing in our lives. Let us put on our faith in Him and be ready to receive from Him, and He will surely sustain us.

SUMMARY

Planarian worms also known as creepy crawlers, are famous for their regeneration abilities. The worm cut across or lengthwise can form two separate worms according to a research done by the University of Nottingham. This apparently limitless regeneration also applies to aging and damaged tissue, and cells in a bid to understand the mechanisms underlying their longevity. The planarian worms have unique abilities to regenerate physically which gives us the analogy of renewal, perseverance and keeping our faith as Christians. For regeneration to take place, transformation from the old must occur. For a new thing to be effected, the old must die. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 reveals that, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:” It is through the death of Christ that we have been made a new creation in Him. Our faith in pegged on total reliance on Christ, who calls us to take up our crosses and follow Him. It is through dying to self and submitting our will to God’s will, that a new thing is formed in our lives. Ephesians 4:22-24 reminds us to put off our old self which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires and to be made new in the attitude of our minds, and to put on the new self created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. The same message was communicated to the Israelites through prophet Isaiah after the Babylonian captivity. They were instructed to forget the former things for the Lord is doing a new thing (Isaiah 43:18-21). We sometimes need to get rid of old memories, habits and other past traditions to walk with God. To be freed from our past burdens, can need to take advantage of the present and future. The mind has a destructive power of yesterday but God is calling us to focus on His goodness and love. The widow of Zarephath received the grace of God and a supernatural increase even when she had lost all hope. The man at the pool of Bethesda received supernatural healing after waiting for thirty eight years. God requires us to believe in Him despite the challenges that we might be going through and step into our mandates. He has put a new song in our mouths this year, let us rejoice for He is doing a new thing in our lives. He is refreshing us, renewing us and regenerating us in His love and purposes. Like the planarian worm whose lifespan is not well known, for scientists describe it as an eternal creature due to the regeneration abilities. Let us have faith in Jesus Christ who has given us eternal life in Him. Let us not loose hope but believe that we will see Him as He is when He comes again and dwell with Him forever in the New Jerusalem.

PRAYER
