THEME: SHOES OF THE GOSPEL

Mark 1:6-7 NKJV

Now John was clothed with camel’s hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And he preached, saying, “There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.”

INSIGHT

John essentially preached the gospel while preparing the way for Jesus Christ. John acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah and more superior that him for he would not unstrap His sandals by any chance. The idea of preparing the way of the Lord is a picture of allowing Christ a place in our hearts. Having the shoes of the gospel of peace is acknowledging that Jesus Christ is Sovereign, mighty and worthy of all. It is also having a heart of humility and submission to Christ just as John did and he did not consider himself worthy of untying the straps of the sandals of Jesus, yet He preached Jesus all over. He chose the simplest of clothing and food as a way of not loving any of the things of this world and fasting so as to bring his whole being to submit before Christ. As we endevour to have the shoes of the gospel of peace, we should have a heart of humility before Christ, submission and acknowledging that as we serve God, He remains to be mighty, worthy and Sovereign above all.

PRAYER

Dear Almighty and Sovereign Lord, we come before You today with a thankful heart for the great things You have done and for how great You are. Lord the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but Your steadfast love shall not depart from us, and Your covenant of peace shall not be removed. Thank You for the love and compassion You have for us and the great covenant You have put for us since time in memorial. Lord we surrender ourselves to You in total submission repenting all our sins. May You cleanse and purify us by Your precious blood. Lord May You heal those who are unwell by Your stripes and Your powerful blood dear Lord. We send Your word oh Lord to speak healing upon their bodies in Jesus Mighty Name. We decree and declare that this year will be a year full of Your divine good health for us, our families and all Your people out there. We continue to surrender this year unto You that You may take charge and open all doors for us even as You walk with us in all valleys and mountains and as You straighten our path in You. Thank You Lord for we know that You are always with us and have heard us even as we call upon You and that You will do according to Your mercies and perfect will for us. Oh Lord may You bless us indeed and enlarge our territories, that Your hand would be with us, and that You would keep us from evil and that we may not cause pain. We pray this in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Blessed Wednesday
