THEME: BELIEVE IN GOD

John 14:1 NKJV

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”

INSIGHT

–The disciples were deeply troubled because Jesus had just told them He would soon leave (John 13:33, 36). Their expectations of a political Messiah were shaken, and they were filled with fear, confusion, and sorrow. They thought the Messiah would also rebuild the Jerusalem temple. Jesus reassured them of His Lordship and comforted them to believe in Him and the Father. Our belief system as believes is rooted in the finished work on the cross. Our victory is in Jesus Christ our Salvation and Shield and God calls us to trust in Him.

SUMMARY

Believing in God should originate from the truth that Jesus is real and He is God. Often times do we hear contradicting doctrines about Jesus, His Deity, existence, Sonship and Kingship. God is real, Creator of the universe and calls us to diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). God is good, faithful, and loving (Psalm 100:5), and calls us to believe in Him even during certain and uncertain times. Sarah laughed in her hearts when the Lord promised her a child since she had passed the age of childbearing. The Lord gave her a son Isaac; for He is faithful (Genesis 18:9-14). Simon doubted when Jesus instructed him to cast his nests into the deep. Simon Peter sighted his frustrations having toiled the whole night yet caught no fish. He obeyed but cast a net, and got a great catch (Luke 5:4-7). One of the benefits of believing in God is that nothing will be impossible with us and for us (Mark 9:23). David believed beyond reasonable doubt that he would destroy Goliath, a more skillful soldier and a giant, who had the correct attire for war. David trusted in the Lord and he was able to kill Goliath, and Israel obtain victory in the Lord (1 Samuel 17:45-49). Believing in God also requires trusting in His word, found in Scripture. It also means letting His Word guide our decisions, choices, and values. Our faith as Christians emphasizes that believing in God includes trusting in His Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16). Believing in God is not only inward but also requires us to show actions. But if it does not have works, is dead (James 2:17). God calls us to love one another as an act of faith (John 13:35), to obey His commandments (John 14:15) and persevere in hope even during trials (Romans 5:3–5). God represents our ultimate source of life, grounding our lives in a sense of purpose and unity with His divine nature and influence.

PRAYER

Lord You are our God and none can be compared to You. We put all our hope and trust in You. Instead of shame Lord You are giving us double honor during this season and beyond. Instead of confusion we rejoice in possession of a double. Everlasting joy shall forever be ours in Jesus name. By Your grace Lord we shall always overcome the snares of sin, satan and death. Where we have not demonstrated faith in You Lord, may You please forgive us merciful Savior. For we are more than conquers in You Christ Jesus. We are more than victorious by Your precious blood and the word of our testimony. May You grant each household the gift of salvation through faith in You Jesus Christ. May You grant us and all people Your gift of eternal life dear Jesus, that we may resurrect in the Day of You Lord. Dear Lord Jesus may You do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask of or think of according to the power that is at work in us. Lord we trust in You and exalt You. We believe that You are able to do more than we can think of or imagine. We believe that we shall be extremely fruitful since we abide in You and You in us. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in Your house forever. May You bless us and keep us loving Father, may You shine Your face upon us and be gracious to us. May You lift up Your countenance towards us and give us peace. Amen
