THE RIGHTEOUS THE RIGHTEOUS
Psalms 34:19-20 NIV “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not... THE RIGHTEOUS

Psalms 34:19-20 NIV

The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.”

INSIGHT

Righteous in Hebrew is written as tsaddiq which means to be just, pure and clean. In Swahili the righteous is derived from the word right which is written as haki meaning just. Many are the afflictions of the righteous as they experience trials, tribulations and persecution. This is not intended to affirm that the afflictions of the righteous are more numerous or more severe than the afflictions of other men, but that they are subjected to many trials. Even in the midst of these troubles, God watches over them and answers their cry for help. He delivers the righteous from their troubles and draws near to them. He protects the righteous and redeems them. On the other hand, He opposes the proud and wicked but gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6).

PRAYER

Matthew 6:33 NKJV

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

INSIGHT

This scripture comprises of Jesus’ sermon on the mount and it emphasizes on the importance of prioritizing our focus on God, His word, prayer, fellowship and living according to His will. Some among us have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many sorrows by the love of money which is a root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10). Seeking God’s kingdom involves understanding and entering into a relationship with Him, and righteousness involves living in a way that reflects His character through faith. When we prioritize our focus on God who is the Creator and Source of everything, He ensures that our material, physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual and all other needs are met.

PRAYER

As a deer pants for brooks of water so our souls yearn for You Lord our God. We hunger and thirst for You oh Lord and desire more of You. We seek You Lord, Your strength and Your face continually. You are our great reward and our all in all. We thank You for Your love towards us and Your goodness and mercies that are new every morning. Father may You forgive us all our sins and iniquities and cleanse us by Your precious blood Lord Jesus. We surrender our hearts and lives to You and we pray that You shall teach us Your ways and guide our steps. May You mould us to be who You want us to be all for the glory and honor of Your name. May Your righteousness always be found in our lives, families, businesses and work, schools, government, judiciary, executive, legislature, leaders and entire nation. May Your righteousness prevail over all other desires. We pray this in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Romans 14:17 NIV

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,”

INSIGHT

Righteousness, peace and joy is what the Kingdom of God is all about, contrary to this is not of God’s kingdom. Believers are called to serve in the kingdom of God, as the body of Christ comprising of different members. God has commissioned apostles, prophets, teachers, gift of miracles, healing, helping, guidance, and different kinds of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:27-28). To serve differently as the Holy Spirit empowers us in His kingdom for the glory and honor of His name. Jesus taught and performed great works including raising Lazarus from the dead, and many Jews went to Jesus and believed in Him (John 12:11).

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus You are our Master and Shield, our Savior and Father. You declare the beginning from the end and the end from the beginning for You are the Beginning and the End the First and the Last. Let all the heavens declare Your holiness and let all the earth declare Your righteousness. You have said in Your word Lord that, man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth. May You always remind us of Your word precious Holy Spirit and lead us in Your path of righteousness, peace and joy. May You help us to live in the way that pleases You oh Lord. INSIGHT

-Jesus Christ is the Righteous One. According to 1 John 2:1-2 Jesus is refered to as our Advocate with the Father for He died for the sins of the whole world. Jesus is the Righteous Judge (2 Timothy 4:8), pointing to the Last Day. We are made righteous through the righteousness of Christ Jesus and we are called to seek His face and accept Him in our hearts and receive His salvation.

SUMMARY

The theme righteous delivers the message of justice and integrity. Several scriptures reveal people who were just and righteous before God. Job was a righteous, blameless and upright man, he feared God and shunned evil (Job 1:1). Joseph husband to Mary mother of Jesus was a just man (Matthew 1:19-20). Cornelius the centurion was a righteous and God-fearing man, who was respected by all the Jewish people (Acts 10:22), among others. The Lord blessed these men and granted them favor and grace. Even though some like Job went through many afflictions, the Lord delivered him from them all (Psalm 34:19). The righteous lead blameless lives and their children are blessed after them (Proverbs 20:7). The righteous man’s integrity impacts not only his own life but also the lives of his children. The blessings mentioned are both material and spiritual, suggesting that the children are more likely to follow in the righteous path and enjoy the resulting benefits. These blessings transcend to their descendants, creating a legacy of virtue and divine favor. We are called to always seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things shall be added to us (Matthew 6:33). We are also reminded that the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17).
