THEME: THE RIGHTEOUS

Acts 22:14-16 NIV

“Then he said: ‘The God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth. You will be his witness to all people of what you have seen and heard. And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’”

INSIGHT

-Jesus Christ is the Righteous One. According to 1 John 2:1-2 Jesus is refered to as our Advocate with the Father for He died for the sins of the whole world. Jesus is the Righteous Judge (2 Timothy 4:8), pointing to the Last Day. We are made righteous through the righteousness of Christ Jesus and we are called to seek His face and accept Him in our hearts and receive His salvation.

SUMMARY

The theme righteous delivers the message of justice and integrity. Several scriptures reveal people who were just and righteous before God. Job was a righteous, blameless and upright man, he feared God and shunned evil (Job 1:1). Joseph husband to Mary mother of Jesus was a just man (Matthew 1:19-20). Cornelius the centurion was a righteous and God-fearing man, who was respected by all the Jewish people (Acts 10:22), among others. The Lord blessed these men and granted them favor and grace. Even though some like Job went through many afflictions, the Lord delivered him from them all (Psalm 34:19). The righteous lead blameless lives and their children are blessed after them (Proverbs 20:7). The righteous man’s integrity impacts not only his own life but also the lives of his children. The blessings mentioned are both material and spiritual, suggesting that the children are more likely to follow in the righteous path and enjoy the resulting benefits. These blessings transcend to their descendants, creating a legacy of virtue and divine favor. We are called to always seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things shall be added to us (Matthew 6:33). We are also reminded that the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17).

PRAYER
