THEME: BELIEVE IN GOD
Luke 5:4-7 NKJV
“When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.”
INSIGHT
–Jesus challenges the faith of Simon Peter and by extension the multitudes who were with him. Simon a prominent fisherman who was later called by Jesus to become a fisher of men, was instructed to cast his nets into the deep. Instead of applying his faith, he expressed his experiential knowledge. Many times are we called as believers to believe in God in our work and businesses but we consider at other factors like economic conditions prominently instead of looking to Jesus, our Source. We apply our own wisdom and experience and fail to partake of God’s blessings. Simon was instructed to cast his nets into the deep but he instead lowered a net which was breaking because of the great catch, and the boat sinking. We are called to lower our nets into the deep for a catch and apply deep faith in God for breakthrough and prosperity.
